Im halfway through this ep just now, and its so far one of the best of the season. The Illyria/Spike sparring session is hilarious... ''i wanna keep Spike as a pet'' lol. But i've been really impressed with Connor. This was a character i used to hate, but in this he's actually a cool guy, million times more likeable. If he had been this Connor in s3 and 4 he may have become one of my favorites.

Im beginning to like Illyria too, shes quite funny.
 
FINALLY! Someone seeing Connor the way I see him! He's an awesome character, definitely at his best in this ep.
 
I have to admit, I didn't hate Connor in this ep at all. And from someone who has hated his character from the moment he showed back up as a sullen psycho teenager, that's a big compliment. LOL I liked this episode; thought it was really interesting and well done. And I finally got to see Sahjon (sp?) killed- BONUS! LOL
 
yeah "origin" is a brilliant episode. i really love the wes and illyria dynamic as well as the spike and illyria dynamic. and connor is very likable, finally. i love that he tells angel at the end without actually telling him. very well done.
 
Ok this isn't about Origin but Connors good in Peace out too. I love the bit when teamangel finds out he's been able to see Jasmines real face all along, and he still loved her. Kinda creepy.

But then why would remember everything again in the comics? cause in the comics something happens to make him remember everything.
Very good episode, I love Wesley in it and his interactions with Illyra/Angel
 
I agree with all that had been said, and especially liked when Angel muttered that Wolfram & Hart told him that they were going to fix Connor's lusting after older women :biggrin:. But it turns out Angel did the right thing, and Connor ends up being grateful for Angel's decision.
 
Yeah, despite my intense hatred of Conner, he get's WAY better in S5. Coming to save Angel from Hamilton ALMOST redeems him. Almost.

True, from a virtue standpoint, but Connor doesn't do much physical damage
I'm not a huge fan of season 5, but it did ties up some loose ends very nicely. First with Cordelia in " You're Welcome". Her finest hour if you ask me. And then with Connor in Origin" which is his finest hour imo.
I love this episode and it is one of my favorite Angel episodes ever.
Nice to see what Connor could have become, but it is also nice that he gets to glimpse the person he was. And that he can retain the memories from both of his lives, and grow from it.
"You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father."
A great episode and Vincent Kartheiser finally gets his time to shine.

Connor wasnt likeable because he wasnt suppose to be, he grew up in a hell dimension... and if that doesnt harden you up than i dont know what will... yes he is more joyful towards the end but he has totally new memories and even when he does remember them, he realises that what he father did was valor and honorable.
 
^ him not supposed to be likable is irrelevant. Was the Mayor or Glory supposed to be likable? No. But plenty people loved them anyway. I don't think the reason he's unpopular(see most hated character thread) is to do with the fact he played a 'bad' guy.

He wasn't really supposed to be likeable, yes, but I too got the impression that the writers didn't really seem to know what to do with him and pressed the same keys for a little too long which made him annoying to a lot of people.

I really like Connor because of how f*cked up he is.
He just can't really function on his own and just does whatever the person who is the nicest to him wants - which may make him seem like a d*ck most of the time because of the people who are nice to him.
No, really.
First there is Holtz who raised him for what?, sixteen years?, and told him his biased stories about what Angelus did to his family and very surely left out the parts that Angel is not that monster anymore.
Then there is Cordy, or, let's say Jasmine manipulating Cordy, whom he met briefly before she ascended and who was instantly nice to him. He remembered that. That he had his little crush on her and could play a little knight in shining armor probably helped too.
Gunn and Fred were nice to him too between S3 and S4 but because they then find out what Connor did to Angel they turned on him. Can't say I blame them - because yes, that was all his fault but still, understandable from his point of view, if a little harsh. - but that's the minute they stopped being nice to Connor which then drove him into Cordelia's arms - literally. And from then on it got worse.
That's probably how Connor sees the world. Divided into people who are and who aren't nice to him.

That is, before he got his new set of memories, of course. I liked how this episode handled him. He finally got his chance to do the right thing and look back onto his miserable real life but not let that influence his judgement anymore. Because he just isn't that lonely, lost, desperate kid from a hell dimension anymore but someone who remembered living a normal life. Which helped him to simply function.

And what might have redeemed him a little in some people's eyes.



Edit: Wow, that turned out longer than it was supposed to be. Heh.

Agree with everything. I like Connor these days.
I just re-watched this ep and I was wondering at the end was Connor revealing to Angel he remembers everything? or Angel just thought he mean't that?

I loved it when you saw a glimpse of of psycho Connor when he does that head turn and than bam just decapitates Sasjhan. (I don't know how to spell his name XD)

I loved the Spillyria moments espicially the pet moment cause the look on his face and her seriousness 😀.

Connor remembers everything.
I liked it. I havce nothing against Connor, and I thought the episode was a great one. Angel is still looking after Connor. But Wesley annoyed me..I didn't like whatever he was doing. He should just have trusted Angel.

And Spike and Illyria were so great together.
 
Must admit, I liked Conner in this episode too.

But still happy that his stay was a short one.

Well i never hated Connor,i knew that he is a very tragic character because of the things that happened to his life...and because he was manipulated by almost every person he met(Holtz,Justine,Cordelia possesed by Jasmine).I know it is very irritating and i almost hated him when he threw Angel to tthe ocean.

It is really remarkable what Angel did for him,took the evil law firm for his sake.I really liked this episode,finally Connor has the normal personality he was supposed to have if he wasn't taken away from Angel.Honestly i cried when he said "i learned that from my father" and the look on Angel's face is priceless.I am SO happy Connor finally understood what Angel did for him and the great love he has for Connor...really touching episode,poor Angel he misses Connor so much!
...and why the hell Wes wanted back his memories?to remind him of what he did?anyway those memories are gonna make him even more sad now

And of course i just LOVE Spike and Illyria...i think Illyria tries to adjust to human life!and i like the fact that Illyria wants Wes as her guide,interesting interaction between them!

Well Wesley didn't know how screwed up things had been then remember?
I found the scene between Angel and Connor at the sporting goods store at the end of season 4 very heartbreaking and I was very happy to see Connor recognize how much Angel cared for him and show appreciation for his father at long last. Having the loose end of Sahjon tied up was also a big plus and helped cement this episode as a truly great one. Definitely a big reason I like season 5 so much.
 
yes!I believe the writers finally gave Connor what he deserved...and Connor finally recognised Angel as his father who has given up so many things for him.

It is very touching and at the same time painful,because he finally knows the truth,he is grateful,but Angel and Connor never got the chance to develop the true father-son relationship.When Connor was a teenager both in Quor-Toth and the alternate memories...Angel wasn't there like he wished to.But still i am happy that Connor is now a very good character.

Generally when an episode is about Angel and Connor,i am very touched.That's why season 3 was sooo very touching and i cried with everything that had happened...how carefully Holtz's plan was carried out and all those tragic events...and now i come to love season 5 for restoring the character of Connor!
 
I liked it. 🙂 Even though I used to hate Connor, I always loved the Dangel he stood for. So it was nice to see him as a smart, kind, respectable young man. Although I'm not sure how he became that way, knowing his parents. 😀 It always seemed odd to me though. Connor was part of this big prophecy, "two vampires will have a miracle child" and all that jazz, but Connor didn't actually seem to be anything extraordinary. Really, he only had enhanced skills. Nothing more than your average SWAT guy or ninja would have. 😀

The Spillyria was awesome, those two have so much chemistry.

One thing that I never understood is why none of them ever had a conference about the whole memories thing. As to my knowledge, Gunn and Lorne never showed any traces of getting THEIR memories of Connor back. It was never brought up, never discussed, nobody even questioned it. It's seems a bit ridiculous, really. Wesley, Connor, and Illyria are the only ones shown to get their memories back.
