Origin of 'Dingoes Ate My Baby'

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but apparently the band name 'Dingoes At my Baby' came from the disappearance of a Azaria Chamberlain in 1980.

One possible explanation for Azaria's disappearance that has been considered by coroners and courts is removal by a dingo. This was raised immediately as Mrs Chamberlain yelled ""¦the dingo's got my baby!" and continued to be considered years later when the matinee jacket was found near a dingo's

I find it a little odd that they named the band after this.

I believe there is already a band with the same name before Buffy but I remember in the news everyone thought she was joking so at the time it was a big joke so I am guessing Joss got it from that, but now evidence has shown that it was true.

Also didn't their music come from the Canadian band 4 Star Mary

Yep all their songs are by Four Star Mary the rest of the members in Oz band is Four Star Mary.

Yep, I knew the origin of the name of the band. It made me chuckle a little, but it's also morbid if you knew the story.

Btw, is the band still active? I didn't hear anything about them! But I love their music even if I think I only love them because I associate them with Buffy! 😀

Cool! I always think of Elaine in Seinfeld when I see the band name though. 😀 "Maybe the dingoe ate your baby! I said: MAYBE THE DINGOE ATE YOUR BABY!" 😀 😀 😀 That's probably where she got it from too, I've been wondering about that. 😀

how come you remember everyone thinking it was a joke? If you are 20 years old doesn't that mean you were born in 1992? Azaria was mauled to death in 1980.
