Ok,im not even sure how to begin this post lol. Basically, a while ago on Buffy Boards i read somewhere that the original plan for season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was to have the scoobies rescue Buffy from hell. also, i remember reading George Lucas was involved in this project. Anyone have a clue what im referring to here lol. IS it true, was this really the original 6 plan? thanks in advance for all of your posts on this topic. and what do you think of this plan if it is indeed true,do you like this story?

Depends on how they do it. I mean, season 6 already has them rescuing Buffy from what they think is a hell dimension. And Angel already went there even though he never reported back. I'd have to have some idea of how they would make it different.

Any plot ideas floating in that lovely big brain?

George Lucas...pfft. If that rumor is true, let's all be thankful he wasn't involved. After the original Star Wars Trilogy (and some might say during Return of the Jedi, with the Ewoks idea) he completely lost all his senses. The last three movies were a profound demonstration of just how clueless he had become. He turned everything he touched or involved himself with into garbage. (Which is one of the many reasons to be excited about the new Star Wars movie...his complete lack of involvement in any capacity).

So the original idea was to have Buffy lost in hell? That would have significantly changed the themes of S6. Interesting. I don't have any idea regarding the veracity of that rumor (or whatever you'd call it) though.

Lucas kinda sucks.
Never heard about this rumor either. Kinda sounds a bit like a stretch to me, I feel like if it were true more people would know about it. George Lucas? I don't know doesn't seem to fit.

But the idea of the hell dimension could have been interesting, personally I like what we got better. It was a more interesting storyline to explore with Buffy actually being in heaven, and it's not something I've see again on a different show, while many did do the hell dimension.

I've been on BB for close to 10 years and I have never once heard anything like this. I've never heard about an alternate idea for S6, nor have I heard anything about Lucas being involved, and, as much as I hate S6, this idea kinda sucks, to be perfectly honest.

The whole idea about S6 was 'Life is the Big Bad', and I feel that, if Buffy was rescued from a hell dimension, that idea would have been lost pretty early on. Real life, in S6, was shown to be Buffy's own personal hell, because of her being ripped from heaven. If she was rescued from a hell dimension, that whole metaphor goes out the window.

I feel like there would be too much that would have to be changed for this idea to even begin to be plausible. Buffy and Spike, for example, would have either had to have been scrapped completely, or Spike's character would have had to have been drastically changed. Buffy felt herself to be at rock bottom, so she went to Spike to make herself feel something. That idea wouldn't work in the scenario proposed.

And I don't know if Joss would want to bring in someone like Lucas to essentially take over his baby. Even just looking at their body of work, Lucas and Joss have vastly different ideas. I'm not sure if they would be compatible enough to work together to produce even a season of television.

Ok,let me clarify a few things here. And I should've clarified sooner,so I'm sorry 🙂 But,Lucas was suppose to be allowing access to his studio for Joss and company for season 6,that was the extent of Lucas involvement in Buffy season 6(at least form what i had read). As far as the idea goes,i just thought id share it since people didn't seem to like season 6. I personally love it the way it is. Would i change a few things? sure. But that's always true for any season of good tv. I don't really like this idea,so im not endorsing nor promoting it,i was just sharing it. Anyway ,i mainly just wanted to know if this was true, and i did read it here,at least i think i did lol.

I got that, I know you weren't endorsing the idea, just querying it's existence: we've all been there with scattered fragments of posts past :)

I'm not saying that you're pushing the idea, just pointing out that
Yeah, if Buffy had been saved from Hell instead than the whole story for S6 would have to be completely different obviously. It would be a whole new season. Which should be appealing to people who dislike S6, in theory at least. Who knows what would have happened instead though. It could have been well done, or it could have been poorly done.

Dammit, stupid keyboard, lol.

Sorry, I hit enter before I'd finished typing.

I didn't mean to imply that you were pushing the idea, or anything. Just that I've been on this boards, like I said, for almost 10 years, and I have never seen anything about Lucas having any sort of involvement in production of S6, nor have I seen anything about an alternative S6 idea.

I'm not suggesting that you never saw it either, just that I never did and it seems like something that would have raised a few eyebrows, lol.

I don't like S6, but I understand it, and I really don't feel like the other idea would have been better. Too much would have had to have been changed, like Spuffy, Buffy's depression. Even Willow's addiction and Xander and Anya's wedding might have been different.

It's an interesting string to pull.

its ok,my keyboard hates me too :D and i think it is probably just a bs rumor, like you said if it had been true someone would have posted multiple threads about those ideas lol :)
I'm quite certain I posted this a few days back but for some reason it didn't work.
Thankfully I had copied it into my phone as these things seem to always happen to me 😱

I think it would have been interesting if Buffy was in a hell dimension and the Scoobies thought she was in heaven and the only person who knew her whereabouts was Faith, who had some prophetic dreams about it.
It could have brought Faith back into the loop a bit earlier and earned her trust back with the gang; finally putting her differences from Buffy aside and devising a plan to get her out of that dimension. Maybe for a short time we see Faith struggling with the decision to come back given everything that's happened.
You could still deal with the fall-out of the Scoobies feeling bad about not researching where Buffy would end up if she'd die. Buffy could struggle with the idea that perhaps when she does eventually die again, where she would end up. The uncertainty and the 'hell on earth' outlook would still be there.
Just a few ideas...

Hey, I wanna get a chance to see the hell dimension - see Buffy there. Maybe a rescue party would be sent. Willow could locate her. Spike can fight demons. Giles has knowledge that would be useful....that would be interesting! 😀

However, I do agree it would blow the big bad is life theme out of the water.😉

I think that's a really cool idea.
