Oz is a sweet, secure boy who knows how to make the one he loves feel special and Xander desperately needs someone like that. He’s socially competent and as noted by Xander has got the cool factor down. On the other hand, Xander is funny, full of life, incredibly brave and extremely talkative - endless babble is something Oz needs in his life to fill in the silence.
Legend has it that Faith isn’t really Xander’s first. Way before Willow met Oz, Xander was spotted in a party thrown by Devon - lead singer of Dingos Ate My Baby - and Oz was instantly attracted to that nervous wreck. He was especially amused by the ‘Peep Show’ shirt he was wearing. Oz helped Xander journey from boy to man that night. Next day, Xander leaves wearing a different shirt. Oz keeps Xander’s shirt and never wears it until that summer when Buffy runs away. The boys share a special smile that Willow doesn’t understand.
