(This came up during a late night conversation with Buffyprops. I'm cot certain whether it fits within the "Inside/Out" section or not, but if not, please relocate it to its proper place)

Imagine that you have been relocated by your employer, transferred to school, or whatever other reason seems appropriate, to Sunnydale, in any season that you might prefer. Unlike most of the other residents, you are fully aware of the vampire/demon situation there, so in order to move about town with relative freedom and at least a degree of safety, you reach the logical conclusion that you have to be appropriately armed at all times. You have your choice of any weapons, with one backup, if you desire it, that is both real and practical to carry concealed. (For this discussion, "concealed" will include a full sized sword under a long coat or duster, as was done in the "Highlander" movies and tv series, but nothing so bulky that it would be impossible to hide, like flame throwers, long bows, spears, and the like. Generally, just about anything that was actually used on either show except Buffy's rocket launcher or Faith's compound bow. Handguns and shotguns may be used, since Wes regularly carried them, but no machine guns, assault rifles, or riot shotguns. Also remember, a wooden stake might be fine fir vampires, but there are other things out there as well, so just packing wood might not be the best of ideas)

If you come a-running at me, I may just have to make an exception to my "No weapons" rule. BANGEL GO DEO!
Well, I'd be useless with just about anything, so I'm going to go with the girly cliche of an appropriately strong and prefereably good looking man with his own set of weapons that I can hide behind xD

Or, a stake and a knife. Lightweight and easilly concealable.

Booooo!

I have a genuine hate for weapons. A stake is gona be requirement whether I like it or not so what I would do upon arriving in the 'Dale is take up Ju Jitsu again and be able to kick arse no matter what.

Don't fret, Miss K. If you get in trouble, just holler "Adopt-A-Bangel," and we'll come a'runnin'. Saving Bangels isn't just a job, it's a sacred duty.
I own stakes and a crossbow, so I'm pretty much set 😀
And if I were in Sunnydale, I would carry with me a stake and a cross. A stake to kill if I really push it, and a cross to scare away - it's like a pepper spray!

Let's hope that you don't run into any athiest vampires
I don't care for weapons in real life. Period. If I would carry one I could easily end up as Faith and killing a human. If you know there's monsters out there you'll probably be on your guard 24/7 and rather act too fast than too slow (since that means that you die). Which would make the chances/risk of being wrong and make a mistake a whole lot bigger. I'll just stick to Xander's plan. I laugh in the face of danger. Then i hide until it goes away. At night that would probably be in my house or apartment. Being totally serious. If my boss would want me to move to Sunnydale and I knew about the monsters I'd refuse and at worst go looking for another job. But with my kind of work there's no way I would be relocated like that. 😉

this would literally be my answer. No job is worth your life
Pretty cool thread! I'd carry a wooden stake in each of my trench coat's(yea I'm badass like that) pockets. A chain with a cross around my neck. And then either a katana or a handgun, depending on what I'd plan to use to kill demons that night. 😎

I'd like to have a small sheath for stakes, like the one Angel wore in Season 1 of "Angel", or the ones Wesley had that shot the stakes out at people. 🙂 I'd also carry a small gun, such as a .22 in my boot. 'Cause there'd be no way I'd walk around in Sunnydale in anything but butt-kicking boots.

How about a .45 automatic loaded with tracer or incendiary ammunition? White phosphorus and thermite burning at several hundred degrees C would be hot enough to ignite anything that it struck, including vampires. As backup, a large knife or small sword, something like a very big Bowie knife of a shortened Roman gladius, heavy enough to penetrate or cut through just about any kind of skin, scale, fur, or leather covered baddie likely to be lurking around the hellmouth.

I'd be in the camp of simply moving once I found out that vampires and demons were more common in Sunnydale. I don't care how cheap the rent is there. Oh it's that cheap?? Well...., no job is worth my life.

This said in the hands of someone well trained I wouldn't have that much of an issue with guns. Wes once said, you use whatever tools are necessary. Magic in the wrong hands can be just as dangerous if not more dangerous than a gun. Wes was a skilled marksmen so it made sense he'd use guns and it was those guns that saved AI from Skip. If one hasn't got superhuman strength is choosing to fight evil, it makes sense they should be flexible with what they use.

In all cases, keep in a group, preferably a large group, as we've seen most demons and vampires pick on the vulnerable.

Arrange first dates in the day if possible.

It doesn't hurt to be friends with a Slayer. A non-psychotic one is preferable.

Please be careful about who you invite back to your place, no matter how they look in leather pants or no matter cool you think their platinum blonde hair looks.

LOL! I'm with you on all counts!
Larger: Stake
Concealed: Holy Water in a pepper spray can. Hopefully, I'd never have to get too close.

When it doubt, run. (though they'd surely catch me. I always came in last in gym class.)

My hunting knife, and a stake.

My hunting knife is pretty fantastic. It's razor sharp (I sharpen it a lot) and has both a smooth edge and a serrated edge. It also has a hidden compartment (Maybe for chopped garlic or a vial of holy water?) and a wrist strap. Easily concealable.
