What scenes were painful for you to watch?

I don't mean because they're bad, but because what happened in them.

Like the bathroom scene in Seeing Red, for the obvious reason.
And when Buffy is beating Spike up like a punching bag and he lets her, in Dead Things.
And after Willow almost gets Dawn killed and she falls on the ground crying, in Wrecked.
And when Willow thinks she's talking to Tara in Conversation With Dead People.
Another Willow one, in The Killer in Me. The last scene when Willow breaks down, crying over Tara. And the fact that she didn't end up shooting Kennedy is painful as well: D

Definitely the ones you named. I think the hardest one for me is buffy pummeling spike...

Also, the end of the wish when the master snaps buffy's neck.

The buffy bot being ripped apart by that demon motorcycle gang.

The experiments the initiative do on oz

Giles finding jenny's body

Everyone turning on buffy and kicking her out of her own house.

From ATS:

Fred's death.

When Darla is re-sired by Dru, and Angel can't stop it.

When Angel tries to smother Wes.

Yeah definitely the scene in the alley in Dead Things. It's such a low point for Buffy and Spike just takes it . . .

And of course the bathroom scene . . . for a couple reasons. . .

Willow looking for the right shirt to wear to go meet Buffy in The Body.

The episode, Normal Again. It disturbs me on many levels. I'm almost scared to get to it in my rewatch.

A few years ago, I had breathing problems. And I just bought season 6 DVD set, where as you know, there is the scene where Buffy wakes up in her coffin, unable to breathe. I couldn't watch that scene at that time. Because of the not breathing aspect.

Angel episodes:

- Hero
- A Hole in the world

Buffy episodes:

- The Body
- Passion
- The gift
- Seeing red

I cry everytime I watch one of these episodes

Consistent with my general hatred for season 7 and what they did to that guy who looks just like Giles but isn't, the scene I hate watching is where Buffy says "I think you've taught me everything I need to know" and shuts the door in Giles face. Also the scene where they turn on her and kick her out of her own house. And the scene where she accuses Giles of sending Spike off to be killed. And the scene where she tells him he can stay back with the girls who still need a teacher. All of that, between two people who really loved each other (in a father-daughter way) is so painful to watch.

I also agree with other scenes mentioned here.

You nailed it. Was such a shame how he was portrayed in Season 7.

So true! I hate what they did to Giles' and Buffy's relationship in season 7!
I have a horrible memory, but off the top of my head:

BtVS:
-Buffy finding out she is destined to die in "Prophecy Girl"
-All of Becoming: Part II
-Oz and Cordelia walking in on Xander and Willow kissing (makes my gut feel all punched!)
-Angel breaking up with Buffy
-Riley leaving in "Into the Woods". Actually, pretty much that entire episode.
-The characters dealing with Joyce's death in "The Body".

I won't post past where I'm at in my re-watch, because my memories are fuzzy...

AtS:
-Doyle's sacrifice in "Hero"
-Darla tormenting Angel throughout that arc, and drawing him towards darkness
-Darla becoming re-vamped. I was so sad. 🙁
-Angel firing Wes, Cordelia, and Gunn, then acting like a major jerk to them after that.
-Angel, while ensouled, seducing (?) Darla

And that's all I've seen of that series so far!

I'm right after watching "Seeing Red" and it was painful for me to watch the last moments of Tara. Willow was so happy and it broke my heart when Warren shot Tara.

From ATS:

When Darla is re-sired by Dru, and Angel can't stop it.

When Angel tries to smother Wes.

I find both of these very hard to watch.

Even more painful is seeing when Connor gets taken by Holtz into Quor'toth. The look on Angel's face... oh, I think anyone with kids especially would just feel their heart break at that point

Also as have been mentioned Buffybot getting ripped apart and in front of Buffy no less. No wonder the poor girl thought she was in hell :S

2 scenes immediately come to mind. The rape scene in "Seeing Red", and the episode where Fred is dying and Wesley is holding her in his arms (can't remember the episode right now)

A Hole in the World
The beating in Dead Things and the bathroom scene in Seeing Red... plus Tara's death in Seeing Red. Actually, Tara's death is harder for me to watch than the bathroom scene.

Becoming Part II - When Buffy kills Angel. I think that one doesn't even need an explanation why is it hard to watch.
Prom - Angel breaking up with Buffy. When she cries, I cry.
I Was Made To Love You - the end, Buffy saying mommy just hits me every time.
The Gift - God, I cry even before anything happens.

Yeah, that episode really haunts me.

You know, I think it's because it messes with my separation between real life and Buffy. I mean, I know that the world of Buffy is totally impossible but it's wonderful and then bam!

It all doesn't exist.

And the world of Buffy really is this world, that we livein, and Buffy's crazy. . .

Plus the idea that Spike doesn't actually exist is HORRIFYING! 😀

huge lol at the last part!
- Giles finding the flowers and the wine and then going upstairs to find Jenny's body, all the while with the music playing.

- Buffy crying in The Prom.

- Oz leaving at the end of Wild At Heart(mostly Willow crying).

- The end of Into The Woods with Buffy and Riley.

- The OPENING of The Body when Buffy finds her mother. Not the whole episode.

That's it. I only put the scenes that were painful to watch.
