well, i havent written a fic in a long time, and i think thats mostly because of LACK of time, so i wrote a really short one. its based on the idea of the fanfic 100 that i found on an LJ: fanfic100 - Community Info. you guys can feel free to try out the idea if you like; its not even mine 😛. who knows, maybe ill even write more of these. there are 99 more to go 🙂. this is for #58, which is "dinner". its not especially great, so please, if you choose to read it, dont throw rotten tomatoes just cause you don't like it 😉.
Title: Pancakes For Dinner
Author: Spirit_Of_Fred
Summary: this is about joyce, and is a bit before the end of 'i was made to love you'.
Pancakes for dinner. It was a tad unconventional, but it happened. Plus, this night felt important. Joyce didn't know why.
Her daughters seemed to need a reprieve anyway. Dawn had recently found out that she was the key, and seemed so fragile to Joyce now. She worried that whatever she said or did might take some new meaning in the teen's mind...might imply that she was different because she wasn't real, or imply that she did not matter.
And her dear, sweet Buffy, ever so strong and brave. Protecting her little sister, facing a God...and the odd new development of facing off with the vampire that was in love with her. With all these trials her two greatest loves had to go through, there should be pancakes. Not to mention that, as she herself had once said, pancakes only didn't have calories when she made them for her daughters.
I should go make them now, she thought, not watch an... she turned her head up at TV, which had been blaring loudly, yet had taken a backseat in her mind ...infomercial about dish soap...
She reached for the remote on the coffee table in front of her, and clicked the TV off. Her gaze fell on the flowers she had received but an hour earlier. She just couldn't believe she was dating again; that both Buffy and Dawn seemed completely supportive was a big surprise. With Ted, she'd received loads of bitter resentment from Buffy. ...Of course, Ted had been a manipulative robot, but he could just as easily have been a kindly man.
She focused back on the pancakes. Plain for Buffy, with syrup and butter ready for the adding, and for Dawn, funny shapes with M&Ms and peanut butter, just the way she liked them. As she thought of her lovely girls she smiled.
If she were going to make them, she would need to make them soon. Buffy could be home any minute, and she had to pick Dawn up from school. Maybe she should make them later so they wouldn't get cold.
...Cold. Cold.
The thought stayed caught in her mind. It started giving her a headache. She laid her head back on the couch pillow. She felt a little cold. Or maybe chilly described it better?
She tried to shake it off. She couldn't let her girls' pancakes get cold"¦
