Paracord Bracelets

This is probably going to sound like a weird question, but does anyone here wear a paracord bracelet? Our church is having its Fall Festival now, and I was asked to make some bracelets, apparently they're very popular with young people around here, and they have so far sold about 50, and are asking for more. Is this just a local fad, or is it more widespread? Since I've started making them, I've noticed quite a few web sites advertizing either the material or the finished bracelets.

(For those not familiar with the term, "paracord" is parachute shroud line that now comes in all the colors of the rainbow, and bracelets are woven out of it, about 8 feet of cord per bracelet. Here are some examples.

I've never worn one and I can't say I've noticed young people wearing them in the LA area; at least not in paracord material. I've noticed some bracelets made out of a smaller lanyard type material mixed with chain that have a similar knotting...kinda like this: http://www.etsy.com/shop/doctorscloset

I do remember learning how to make paracord bracelets in summer camp when I was little. I could spend hours making bracelets in every color I could find. 🙂

That's pretty much what I'm making, minus the chain. The cobra weave is the most common, but there are several other patterns, depending onhow complicated you want to get with them.

A lot of the kids in my area wear them, but I've never tried to make them.... Have fun and let us know how they turn out!
