So Paramore has released two new singles in the last month. I've been a big fan of them since Riot! and didn't overly dig their last album. It's been band member musical chairs over the last 7 years with Zac and Josh leaving in 2010, Jeremy leaving in 2015 (I think), then Zac returning for this album.

I've seen Paramore twice. Once before their self titled album where they still proved to be absolute legends of punk pop. And then shortly after their self titled release where I was considering walking out from, they had gone from punk legends to pop sell outs.

I can't stand neither of their new songs and I need to rant.

What is this??? I'm glad Zac is back, the drum stuff is undoubtedly his style, with complex rhythms which the self titled album lacked, but what the actual Goddess is that awful drum sound? The snare sounds like from my first shoddy drum kit. And the cymbals. Urrrgh. Nope. Just a nope from me.

The lyrics and guitar sounds... I feel this is a kick to the bands that you see now rather than remaining in the punk genre. Like a hell mellowed out pop song. There's no distortion. I mean, potentially if they had amped up the guitars with at least some distortion for the lead, pump in some palm muted power chords I would pass the song off as being a decent Paramore sounding song. This? This is essentially now turned into the Hayley Williams show with her back up boys. I feel like they've lost who they truly are.

Me no likely. Anyone else share the same thoughts?

I like a couple of their songs and they were decent at Reading. The singles from Riot like Misery Business. Haven't heard the new stuff.

The big question is when are you going to put your bands songs on here so we can listen @Blair?

You need distortion? Then join me at:

I'm there every day just before I come here. I have been known to repair the odd stompbox/pedal and redesign an amplifier for instrument use. And I have two more tube amplifiers in work and a new amplifier design with the parts sitting beside me. Instrument sound is a big deal and one of the reasons I paid attention in math class when they went over Fourier transforms (which take a waveform and give you the frequency content).

If band membership becomes a revolving door, you can expect the sound to change and with enough differences in the people, the genre of music can change.

I love their first two albums. Third was okay...

Ask and ye shall receive! We haven't recorded an album yet (end of this year is the plan for the release called Jigsaw Heart) But I can offer you a clip from a comp we came second in.
We didn't have a bass player who dropped out a week before hand but we soldiered on through.

And yes, I'm wearing a Sunnydale High shirt, cos I'm cool like that.

Like the shirt, nice guitar!
I have a few albums and have seen them live too. I really like their old stuff, I really like their new stuff too, guess I'm in the minority on that though..... 😳

I'l admit (don't tell me my friends) I like Still Into You and even the Part Two song on their last album. I get where they were trying to go, especially with the ukulele stuff. (I hate the ukulele with a burning passion) because it was the first album without Josh and Zac. Josh and Hayley would always write together so it makes sense that they're style would change. It came across too poppy for me.

But their new songs? I'm sorry, by yourself there. The drum sound kills it for me.

I enjoyed that @Blair

I need to show up on here more often after a nights drinking and make requests. Wake up today with some new music to listen to 🙂

Oh I'm glad! The other two songs that were filmed had poor sound quality due to the camera person (my friend) being in a different spot. But I'll be posting more up on my YouTube channel after our next gig 🙂
