Parker

That line just made me laugh lol...i don't support Parker and didn't laugh when I heard him saying it..but it just made me laugh right now as I read it...don't crucify me
 
If you stop and look at Parker without looking at his actions post-Harsh Light of Day you could make a case that he was just looking for a bit of casual sex and Buffy was the one who misconstrued his intentions, but his conversation with Riley/Forrest kind of proves he was just a jerk.

I'm going to be the one to stick up for Parker. Not exactly saying he was an angel (pun intended), just that he seems like your fairly normal guy of that age. Buffy misconstrued her relationship with Parker due to her dramatic and unusual relationship with Angel. This lead to Buffy having unreasonable expectations from men.

Perhaps Parker should have sat her down and had an awkward conversation with her about it earlier? Or at least the next morning, but I don't see any real reason why he should have done.

Buffy hopefully learnt an important life lesson from her first experience being used, and Parker got laid. It does frustrate me a little that she didn't learn from Xanders fling with Faith that people aren't always looking for a romance filled, loving relationship with someone that they sleep with.

The one thing I'm not sticking up for is his malicious comment about Buffy following him around. Yes, she was acting a little bit crazy and over the top about him ditching her, and I would be a little freaked out if a one night stand suddenly starting acting so depressed over me! Still, no excuse to be nasty and bad mouth her to other men... But you know what? That's what people are like.

I don't know if I've gone around in circles here and I may have gone slightly off topic, but the free love/sex only in a committed relationship topic is a complicated one, and one that even I don't fully understand or am able to describe perfectly.

That I hope to and I think it was an experience she needed, not everyone is going to be the love of a life time.

I personally find Buffy really annoying when she's following him around afterwards and I can certainly see why he would be, but I still say he's just a big snivelling child deep down.

Even when he tries to 'let her down easy' or whatever he does it in a way that is just so ingratiating and slimy (can't believe she doesn't see right through him) that I just wanna slap him over his head.

Parker needs to learn how to handle casual sex better, or at least needs to treat the people he's doing it with better.
 
I don't like Parker for the way he treated Buffy but at the same time that is what loads of college boys are like. They go out with freshers, sleep with them and then just don't call them back. So i think Parker is a realistic character but i wouldn't defend him for his actions.

What bothered me most about the Parker thing was how surprised Buffy was that he used her for sex. I mean, where I come from... It's common knowledge that a lot of people in college want sex and then to never speak to you again. I'm not saying he's a good guy. He's not. And I don't like what he did, and if I was Buffy, I'd be pissed... but she got SO depressed from it... like she thought EVERY guy she talked to and was nice to her was going to fall in love with her like Angel did. If she was 16, I would understand that naivety. But she was 18. She should have known. Plus, if she wanted to make sure a guy wasn't going to just leave her... she should have gotten to know him longer than she did Parker. She gave it up to him rather quickly. The rule is 3 dates. They hung out, but as far as I'm concerned, they had no dates. She had no right to be upset... they weren't dating.
