Begin discussing season four's premiere episode The Freshman

Keep it up guys! 🙂

This is a good episode, but it never really struck me as a great way to open the season. Anybody else feel this way?

It does have three of my favorite buffyverse moment though!
Xander: You up for a little reconasince? (spelling issue here)
Buffy: You mean were we all sculpt and paint and stuff?
Xander: No Buffy, that was the renaissance

And during the Buffy/Sunday fight
Buffy: Let answer that question with a headbutt

Buffy: And for the record, the arm is hurt. It's not broken!

Yeah I agree I liked this episode but I didn't think it was the best season opener. But there were definitely some great lines in it! I also loved Sunday, I thought she was a fun bad guy, and I loved it when she gets staked and just stands there before dusting.

I also love the exchange between Buffy and Xander in The Bronze, his "What would Buffy do" speech, and how he wrecks it with "What is Buffy wearing", lol.

Xander's speech is by far the best moment of this episode. I think they did a good job of making Buffy feel small. I also loved Giles trying to let go and leave Buffy alone. "Remember before you became Hugh Hefner, when you used to be a watcher". Great line.

Yeah I thought they did an excellent job at making Buffy feel small, but the only thing I didn't like was that they broke the Umbrella, I kinda wish they didn't do that, just because of what it symbolises, although I do get why they did it. I always felt kinda bad that they broke it, lol.

Yeah, it was very disappointing to see the umbrella broken. That was a great moment during Buffy that I liked...when she got the umbrella. It was mean that it was broken.

totally agree with everything you guys are saying. i share your upsetness over the broken umbrella and i thought sunday was cool. i didnt like it at first, but now, this is actually one of the ones i like. mostly because of xander. i loved everything he did/said in this episode, which, of course, you guys have already said! i can only be angry at myself for not realizing we'd moved onto the next episode and opened a new thread. also, i loved the lines, and as always i loved willow. my main criticism though is that, despite buffy being upset and feeling small, sunday was an ordinary vampire strength-wise and it was kind of strange that buffy let herself get punched around so much.
