It's rapidly approaching the end of the school year for the High School set. Here in the City Fun Forgot, it's a tradition in HS for the graduating class to put on a show for the school at the end of the year. The students write skits, perform them, do dances, and some even form bands and do a song. I was thinking about what song you would do. A couple of givens: You are only allowed to perform one song; you will perform it flawlessly, and you and your bandmates will not make a mistake. For all of the rest of us who are more likely to be attending a 20th reunion as opposed to graduating HS, you can use that scenario with the same givens: You get to do a song at your 20th reunion.

So...what song do you do? A love song for your g/f or b/f? A hurting country song for someone who dumped you? A revenge song to get back at someone for something? Tell us the song and why you are doing it!


At my 20th reunion, I would play...Thunder Road by Springsteen for these lyrics:

Mrs. D would pick Glory Days also by Springsteen (ok, we're fanatics)...just to get a barb in at some of the people who never seem to get over HS...

And lastly, if I was feeling particularly nasty, I'd dedicate a song to all my old girlfriends...Queen's Fat Bottom Girls...I know, I'm a meanie...😉

My dad plays that for my mum in the car to wind her up.

We never had shows or anything on the last day, more of a senior prank day. Ahh the memories of changing the sugar to salt in the staff rooms, and putting clinc film over their toilets and boot polish on the bannisters.

The year before us stole all the Cruifixes and made the teachers follow the clues to get them back. And in a Catholic school you can imagine the reaction that got 😀

pranks for us....usually with lots of spray paint....on fields and hills...and getting chased by librarians and security when we start pulling some shelf climbing....ahh...that last week of high school made it all worth it...

If I were just doing a song I would choose "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. Just because it's an awesome song.

But if I were to do a song befitting my personality and looking back on HS I would choose "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks, it definitely fits for me.

Well this is kinda related. Bought Lostprophet's "Start Something" album recently and the song "Last Summer" just sums up my feelings about this summer. This is the last summer I will have with all my friends I've had for up to 10 years and its just such a gut wrenching feeling that I'm moving away.

It was weird for me when Buffy left high school, as I was leaving at the same time. I did not actually want to leave school, my senior year was a blast filled with house parties at the weekends.

The move for me was a bit easier because I moved into a flat with two of my high school friends when I went to uni. And then I had to do it all over again when I left uni.
