The planned reboot of “Party of Five” at Freeform has been given a formal pilot order, Variety has confirmed.

The new series would feature an immigration twist and would follow the Buendias siblings, whose parents are unexpectedly deported to Mexico.

The new series hails from original “Party of Five” creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman. Keyser and Lippman will serve as writers and executive producers. Michal Zebede will write and co-executive produce. Rodrigo Garcia is set to direct and also executive produce.
 
Every TV shows of 90's will have a reboot apparently, most of my favorite shows/games/animes have now a reboot or a new series :
Dragon ball Super (It sucks bad)
Sailor moon Pretty Soldiers
Final Fantasy VII will have a remake
Buffy
Charmed
 
I know there's still plenty of great original TV content out there, but the way their going the balance will be tipped in favour of the reboots/spin-offs. Everyone will be sent running for the hills! Before long we may just decide to watch nothing dated post 2011?
 
We are seeing a trend here of reboots with different races in both Buffy and Party of Five. If they tank, the excuse will be that the public was too racist for a black Buffy or a Hispanic Party of Five, regardless of how badly they may be written. If they succeed, they get points from the identity politics crowd. Either way, everyone involved has a success or a ready-made excuse that does not prevent them from getting the next job. We have already seen the new all-female Ghostbusters as the harbinger of what is to come.

Just another Hollywood trend. It'll get old. Then they'll move onto something else that makes money. 😉
