First thought: doesn't look as gawd awful as expected. What do you all think?

Nope. Not that I watched the original but seems they undercut the gravity of original series.

Sadly, I don't think it's a fad any more. You can only tell a story now if it ticks certain boxes.

I think it only really stands out with reboots of 90's shows. Its that thing of because 90's TV wasn't known for diverse casting than re-casting those roles is a way to fix that. There are plenty of original modern shows that have diverse casting. Even if they are just doing it to box tick, it doesn't stand out because they are not shoving it down your throat or making a point about it.

I don't have any interest in this.

Really? I think it stands out in a ton of new shows also.

I don't. I think if you watch shows like Community, Parks and Recs, Dexter, 30 Rock it feels natural and it feels like those actors have been cast because of their talent.

Dude. You are aware those are not new shows, correct?

But their modern shows. I think any show that has been released in the last ten years count. I think TV in general is ahead of film in diverse casting. You can see that in Six Feet Under which is nearly 20 years old now.

But I didn't say shows in the last ten years. I said new shows. The consciousness shift didn't happen ten years ago.
