Just wanted to know if there was ever a scene where Giles and Spike were watching this show? I know its mentioned in phrases, notably in "Something Blue", but i can't remember if they both sit down and watch it in an episode.

Can someone clear that up for me? I was just watching early season 5 and Giles says he was embarrassed about watching it with Spike.

I think the closest we ever came was an episode where Spike was chained in Giles' bathtub and had the TV there and watching it. But Giles wasn't in the room and I think Buffy mentioning that to him was what triggered him admitting it. I think, it's been a while since I've seen S4. I could be completely, totally wrong though.

But I'm almost perfectly sure we never see them watching it together because whenever Giles' apartment was shown on the show, apocalypses and other stuff were happening.

Watching this show? No they never were!

Yeah spike was watching it in, was it in s5 when Buffy dropped off Joyce and dawn in i think mid s5? Spike def loved passions!

I think you're right that we don't see it happen but I think it is definitely implied that they did at some point.

For example in S4 (Something Blue) like Mumrik said - Spike's chained up in the bath with a tv positioned so he can watch..
SPIKE: Come on, now! It's telly time!

GILES: Oh, uh, Willow.. It's Giles. Um.. I thought you were bringing the ingredients for that spell? I really have to-

SPIKE: "Passions" is on! Timmy's down the bloody well, and if you make me miss it, I'll-

GILES: You'll do what? Lick me to death?

And in Series 5 (The Real Me)

GILES: I was a librarian for years. This is exactly the same, except people pay for the things they never return. It'll give me focus. Increase my resources. And it'll prevent you lot from trampling all over my flat at all hours. There may even be some space for you to train in the back.

BUFFY: Boy, you've really thought this through. How bored *were* you last year?

GILES: I watched Passions with Spike. Let us never speak of it.

So yeah, implied but never shown. Which in my opinion is a great shame! It would've been quite entertaining 🙂

Would have been hilarious :smile3:, The Timmy down the well comment was amusing enough, such a Spike thing to say and a reason why he was such a great character. Some people don't appreciate Spike i don' have a clue why as he brought so much to the show, but hey that's another discussion.

Haha these are some of the funniest moments IMO, I love when Spike is whining about seeing Passions!!!

I also think he is hilarious when he's talking about a soap opera!!!lol!!! Well it's just that...Spike loves soap operas and Angel loves Barry Manilow and ballads...not to mention the puppies!!! They rock!

I'm pretty sure it was implied that Spike and Giles watched Passions at some point when he was tied up at his place, probably some time around 'Pangs.' but no, we never see it on screen. After all, Giles was unemployed at that time, so he had lots of free time!

Also, remember in 'Checkpoint' when Spike and Joyce discuss it? Funny!

[Joyce and Dawn are staying with Spike]
Spike: Just don't break anything. And don't make a lotta noise. Passions is comin' on.
Joyce Summers: Passions? Oh, do you think Timmy's really dead?
Spike: Oh, no, no. She can just sew him back together. He's a doll, for God's sake.
Joyce Summers: Ah, what about the wedding? I mean, there's no way they're gonna go through with that.

By the way, did you know that 'Passions' soap opera show is a actual show?
