Past Slayers

I was reading a thread in the Buffy season 1 forum and it got me thinking about the Slayer line, and past slayers. I've always wondered and have been interested in learning about the slayer that came right before Buffy, or even the Slayers that were in the not-too-distant past. I don't know why but I think it would have been interesting to touch on them a bit in an episode. Like have an episode that dealt with past slayers and where we are given glimpses of who they were, in a way for Buffy to understand herself better. This concept happened throughout the series in various places but I don't know, I'd like to know more about other slayers in the past, perhaps even in flashback and not just those that were 30 + years ago.

Anyone else ever been interested in seeing/learning etc about past slayers? Like, oh, here's an idea, Buffy could go on a journey in an episode that's similar to The Christmas Carol. 😀 See the past but not have them see her. (or if they did, that would be interesting!)
 
Yeah I've always wanted to see that!! I've always thought it would be cool to have a "Tales of the Slayers" spin-off similar to the book series! There is the Book of Fours, which Buffy meets India Cohen the slayer that came before her, but it's not canon (still interesting to read though)!!
 
Actually, that's not a half bad idea for the new (possible) movie. Maybe having a new story about a past slayer would keep a distance from Buffy. But yes, there's plenty of exploring that could be done with regards to past slayers. There was a little bit of that when she found the scythe....but definately could have more!!!!
 
Some of the Tales of the Slayers comics are canon, but I don't believe the novels are. I think the only place where the slayer before Buffy is mentioned is in the Book of Fours (India Cohen), I can't think of anywhere else.
 
Yeah, the possibilities are endless. They could also show the Slayer having a hand in major historical events (like the whole Nazi's teaming up with demons spiel).
 
Well if you guys want to know more about the slayer line and the time line that runs directly right up to Buffy and then through Melaka you can. Someone posted the following lnik on another thread after I got curious about the slayer line.

I loved re-reading about past Slayers and finding out about the Slayer before Buffy as she seemed like such a strong character. It was also interesting read about Slayers who didn't even last 5 minutes and why.
 
I bet you if Buffy was around today and a success we would probably have webisodes dedicated to some past slayers.

That timeline also includes Slayers from non-canon material like the novels, so read at your own risk 😉
