Hey, guys. I'm doing a project about the FaulkLands. I need people's opinions about the war between England and Argentine in 1982.
I've talked to some argentine people, and I've got their thoughts on the subject, now I need your opinion.

Can you answer the following questions please?:

1. Do you what did the goverment say about the war?
2. What do you think about this issue?
3. Do you know anyone who has gone to the war?
4. Are there any anniversaries about this?


I need this for monday, so I'd appreciate it if you could answer some these questions soon. Thanks in advance 😉.

You may need to proof read your post about the Falkland Islands -there is a chronology at this site

4. Not that I am aware of - for me it was not a glorious moment in our history.

In general, the Tory (aka Conservative) government of the time was failing at home and needed something like a war to boost their popularity in the polls. Argentina stupidly invaded British "territory" that no-one here had ever heard of, or cared about, and gave them (the Tory government) the opportunity to look good. Many brave forces personnel gave their lives for some lumps of rock in the south Atlantic. It was a ridiculous war that gave the Tories a victory in the subsequent election thanks to the gross stupidity of my countrymen. My main recollection of the war was that it was incredible that we did not see coverage of this "modern" war on TV - it was like waiting a week to get the photos back from the processsors - compare it against the recent Iraq conflict where we got live TV coverage of the lunacy.

Boy George once vapidly sang in a Culture Club song something like "War is stupid" - the Falklands conflict was one of the more "stupid" wars that the UK has ever been involved in - the recent Iraq war also makes the top 3
