"Perdí mi ojo de venado"

I'm unsure of where to make this thread, but I figured it was an interesting discussion to open?
I was lounging about with @CardboardGhost when they pointed out that the opening of "Perdí mi ojo de venado" by Caifanes sounds wildly similar to the Buffy theme. They actually thought it was a cover at first!!
It made me think about how immediately recognisable the Buffy theme is, but also made me wonder if anyone else here had similar little stories about mistaking things for it. There's something striking about that to me. Anyone on these boards obviously has Buffy and its fandom as a notable part of their mental landscape, so things like this shouldn't be shocking, but it strikes me. Arrests me a bit.

I found another one that really made me pause! It's not quite as similar as "Perdí mi ojo de venado," but go listen to the guitar riff between 1:44 and 1:52 in "Pet Semetary" by the Ramones!

I think its a combination of the rhythm being so distinct (the first and last notes of the phrase being held while the notes in between are shorter) and just that it's a very simple pattern in the first place; it's three ascending notes (in the Ramones song the starting note is repeated, making it four) before we descend to the root note. Playing this kind of pattern over a simple bass guitar and drums is probably always going to register as the Buffy theme to me.
