I may be wrong but at the top in the "User CP | FAQ" etc bar there is "petz" and click on that and should be a store.
Go to your usercp and click on Inventory in the pets part at the bottom left. You will see the items you purchased on the right screen at the top - click on the link for "Use" to use it.

The whole Petz concept seems fairly fun...but the templates that are listed in the pet creation page are so happy and bright and cutesy (sp?)......lol...

No lol those are the ones that came with it. When your pet gets beaten up a bit they look worse lol
