BuffyIsMyAlways
Mrs. Marsters.
This was on the weekend of May 30th, and 31st and June 1st, and 2nd 2013 at Philadelphia Comic Con.
This weekend was amazing!
Thursday:
No one was there yet on Thursday, but that’s when the Con started, so my sister and I went and got our James Marsters VIP Tickets and Badges.
We walked around a whole lot, and I got 3 Buffy shirts.
The shirts were the only really eventful thing on Thursday.
FRIDAY:
So on Friday is where everything happens. The con started at 12, so we arrived about a half hour-45 min before. The VIPs got to go in first, so it didn’t really matter how early we showed up.
We walked around for a little, but didn’t buy much. We then found my autograph tables. I got in line for Charisma Carpenter. She was supposed to show up at 1pm, but she didn’t show until 1:45. I wasn’t that far back in the line, so I got up to the table pretty quickly. This lady came around asking for our names to put on a post-it, so there wouldn’t be any terrible name misspellings. When Charisma showed up, I actually gasped because she’s so ****ing beautiful in person. Finally, this girl Lindsey in front of me went up, and I was right next to her.
Charisma took her picture and said to her “Are you Lindsey?” she said yes, and then Charisma sees my picture, and says and “You’re Shanna? Are you two together?” I said no, and I was internally crying because she just spoke to me and said my name correctly. She told me she’s be with me in a minute. Then it was my turn.
I went up to her and shook her hand, and this is how it went down:
Charisma: Hi! How are you? Thanks for coming!
Me: Thank you for coming!
Charisma: (Sees my ‘The Bronze’ Tshirt) Love the shirt. Used to love going there 😉
Me: Thanks! I just wanted to say that your performance in the 100th episode of Angel makes me cry every single time.
Charisma: Yeah it makes me cry too.
Me: How did it feel to come back one last time?
Charisma: To be honest, it sucked. You know being on a show for so long it sucked to be written out. But my character ended really nicely.
Me: I agree. I love your character.
Charisma: (Done with my autograph) Thank you! Here you go! Good to meet you!
Me: Thank you so much! You too.
I then got off the line and started to cry. I calmed down, and not long after my moment with Charisma, James arrived and I jumped onto his line.
I had heard that James and his band, Ghost of the Robot, which I am a huge fan of were going to be doing a show in Philly, but I didn’t know Charlie De Mars from the band was going to be there, and I fan girl over him as much as I do James. Not as much as James, but Charlie is too adorable. I saw that he was selling Ghost of the Robot merch right next to James’ Autograph table. I squealed.
So I wait my turn for James, blah blah. And then it was my turn!
Me: Hello!
James: Hello. Good to see you. *shakes my hand*
He then took a look at the photo I chose, and he was telling me this story about how when he took that photo, and a lot of times while filming, he and Sarah Michelle Gellar had the same mark to be standing on. He described it as a photo where he’s ‘stealing Sarah’s light’. I just listened, and I told him I liked his episode of Wedding Band and Supernatural.
James: Thank you! They were a lot of fun.
Me: I loved them.
I then asked him if he would be so kind as to not write ‘Bite Me!’ on it. And he did not. He wrote: “To Shanna, ♥ U! Love, James Marsters”.
James: There you go. *shakes my hand again* it was good to see you.
Me: Thank you so much.
James: My pleasure.
Me: Before I go, I just wanted to let you know that you’re my hero.
He then smiled really, really big. And sat up really tall in his chair.
James: Wow. *Genuine smile* Wow. Thank you. I won’t let you down.
Me: You never do.
And then I left and proceeded to the Ghost of the Robot Table where Charlie was selling merch. Some lady was there handling the money.
Lady: Hello! Are you familiar with Ghost of the Robot?
Me: Yes.
Charlie: Really! You’re familiar with Ghost of the Robot??
Me: *looks at him and smiles* I am.
Charlie: *Looks at me again* …really? You’re familiar with Ghost of the Robot.
At this point I’m laughing cause I’m not sure where he was going with this.
Me: Yes…….
Charlie: Really? *Looks at me weird again*
I finally understood. He wanted to see if I knew who he was.
Me: I know who you are, if that’s what you’re trying to get out of me. You’re Charlie. Band member of Ghost of the Robot.
Charlie: DAMN IT! I like to play the random guy to see if people actually know the band. Damn You’re good.
Me: Thank you 🙂
Charlie: Are you coming to the show tomorrow night?
Me: No, I can’t because I’m not 21.
Charlie: You have to be 21 to get in?!
Me: Yeah. It kinda sucks for young fans. It happens every time too. You guys were right by where I live and you had to be 18.
Charlie: Where was that?
Me: Long Island
Charlie: Aw that sucks.
Me: It really does because isn’t Sullivan 17?
Charlie: Yeah well he has some special rules considering he’s in the band. Why? How old are you?
Me: I’m the same age as Sullivan.
Charlie: Ohhhhh. I see. We need to find all age venues.
Me: Yeah that would be great.
Lady: Can I get you something?
Me: I’ll have this shirt in Medium please.
The lady gives me the shirt and I also got a necklace.
Charlie: Well thank you very much! *holds out hand*
Me: Thank you! *Shakes his hand*
I then walked away and proceeded to cry on my sister. I just had a full blown conversation with Charlie De Mars!
Then later that day was James’ Q&A Panel.
That was a lot of fun. I’ve heard many of the stories before, but as most people know, I just love listening to James talk. He’s got a nice speaking voice. I got a few clips though.
James on what he brought to Spike’s character can be viewed HERE
James talking about the effect the attempted rape of Buffy scene had on him can be viewed HERE
And a tiny clip of James singing can be viewed [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG-X_WPkbR4"]HERE[/ame]
After the Panel on Friday, we went back to our Hotel.
Saturday:
This was our last day at the Con because there was nothing worth going to on Sunday.
My sister wanted to meet Summer Glau, VIPs for her got to go first, so the line for general admission was like all the way to Africa. This is an entirely obnoxious story where it ended up
I was waiting with my sister since around 10:30, and when it hit 1:15 I needed to go to my James Marsters Photo OP. I did that, and I was shaking afterward, but I was really excited about how nice I think it came out.
I went back to find my sister still standing on Summer Glau’s line and has not moved. A little bit before 2, they told everyone that Summer was leaving for lunch, so my sister and I went to the Buffy Fest Panel with Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters. It was annoying because for some annoying reason that I don’t know, we weren’t allowed to film during it. But I got a lot of good pictures.
The Panel was a lot of fun. Would have been a lot better if Juliet Landau didn’t bail on Comic Con for the 2nd year in a row -___-. There were a lot of weird people asking weird questions.
Right after the Panel was Charisma Carpenter’s photo Op. I pretty much went straight there, and my sister got back in line for Summer Glau, because they gave the first 100 people number cards so they didn’t lose their place in line while Summer was at lunch.
I was having trouble breathing because I was just about to be next to Charisma Carpenter.
I went up to her and she told me I had a great shirt. I said thanks.
The picture came out really nice too. I look a liiiiiitle awkward, but it’s whatever.
After that, it was around 4:15isn. I found my sister on Summer’s line and she pretty much hadn’t moved. At one point I went to go out into the hall to sit because I was sick of standing in line. I wasn’t even meeting her, so I didn’t need to be there.
I was sitting alone for a while, thinking about how I just met three of my favorite people ever in the last two days.
My sister finally called me, and I said hooray she’s done.
But no. After another 3 hours of standing, Summer left again to do the Firefly Panel. My sister was so pissed off that she didn’t even want to go to the Firefly Panel anymore.
We went and picked up our Photo Ops, and we left the con. Peace Philly, It’s been real. I love Philadelphia. It’s so beautiful, and now because of Last year, and this year. I have special memories with it.
It was such an amazing weekend. Not only did I meet my favorite people, but I spent the weekend with my sister, and even just doing that would have made my weekend amazing.
Thanks for reading my Philly Comic Con 2013 Experience!
