Phobias

I don't know that it would necessarily be considered a phobia because it doesnt hinder my ability to function in life, but I'm terrified of swamps. I've had the same nightmare a million times where my vehicle flips over in a swamp and I can't get out and no one can see me because the water is so dark and mucky. I cant stand the smell or the noises you hear. When I'm walking, I can't even walk by the side of the road if they're close, I have to walk in the middle....which, if you think about it, is kinda silly because I don't think most of them are that deep, at least not around here.

Spiders (though that's gotten a lot better since my childhood, was defo a full-blown phobia when I was little), dolls, and anything that even comes close to implying eye damage (I still can't stand watching a certain BtVS S7 scene, and hate that it jumps at me randomly in "previously"!!!).

What's with all the clown fearage? I loved clowns when I was little... and I still haven't forgiven Stephen King and Tim Curry for ruining that fond childhood memory for me. Sadly, you can't "un-see" Pennywise. :sigh:

When I was little, a clown scared me. We were at the cirucs, and I saw one of them behind the tent.. his make up was all blury, and at the time I looked at him his nose fell off.. like Buffy would said, not much of a story there, but I instanly started screaming, God knows what I've actually imagined, and whenever I see a clown I remember that and just get scared.

About spiders, I disgust them, but I can't really say I fear them..

The only thing that truly SCARES me is snakes. OMG.... I will hurt myself and other people to get away from a snake. *shudder*

NO, no snakes are "cute"! With their beady little eyes and the way they slither and their scaly skin.... UGH.

Snakes are loverly!
Petrified of spiders and insects, pretty much anything with more than four legs
Also have been afraid of the dark since I saw the play Woman In Black

I am deathly afraid of 3 things

1. Cockroaches. These things are evil!!!! Thy are the only thing that were able to survive the first apocalypse!! If that doesn't say "evil" to you idk what does. I hate the small house roaches because they are just so damn fast and ewwww. Thankfully, I've never had a single roach in my house. My friends houses, not so much. I will NEVER spend the night at their houses! And then don't get me started on the huge ginormous monstrous roaches in Puerto Rico! The ones that fly into your hair!! omg omg omg...breath Jo, breathe!

2. CLOWNS! I don't think I need to explain myself here.

3. Super small spaces. I'm extremely claustrophobic. I'll freak out even more if said small space is far too crowded. *shudders* I'd hyperventilate and possibly pass out from being terrified

I hate cockroaches!
Unlike you all, I'm really afraid of big places.. not big crowded places, just when I'm alone in a big open space. Like empty room, town square (which never happened).. or ocean :O I would die!

Bleh... I was checking out some random quizzes the other day and one was a Humor quiz but they had a picture of Pennywise and I flipped out, screamed, and slammed my laptop shut! LOL

Besides clowns, I think my biggest fear is bees. When I was little, I had a dream about my pre-school teacher. She was lying in bed and when I pulled the sheets off her to see what was going on, her entire head had been like eaten off or something by a swarm of bees. It totally traumatized me!!

I am, somehow, fascinated by fear.

I used to be terrified by spiders. One day, there was one outside my room, near the window. And I was fascinated. I even took a lot of pictures. So I started wondering "Why am I scared of spiders?". I realized I would have no problem if I was in a room full of spiders (if I had a spacesuit). I just don't like the idea of them sneaking around and being able to get into your clothes or stuffs. So I figured it wasn't a phobia, just a iiick-ia.

So I was way less scared of spiders, dummies, clowns,...
I got over it.

Now I figured my biggest fear, my biggest phobia is emprisonement, as in "being victim of something without being able to do anything about it". I've seen a lot in my life, but there are two moment which still make me shiver or have nightmares about at times.

The first time is when I was 16. I have been stalked 5 days by the same guy who was masturbating in front of me. He was coming into the subway after me and would always go in front of me. He always had his hand in his pants but I thought he had itching (I can be incredibly naive). The third time, I saw exactly what he was doing and immediatly ran away. I changed subway but I saw him again once. He was in front of me and my brain was screaming "Come on girl, move your damn legs, move, just move, don't stand there, don't be a victim again, just move". But I couldn't. I was paralized. I was shaking like hell as I was trying to just go. Finally, the fifth time I saw him and he kept following me, I find the force to move until it was too obvious for everyone that he was following me. Never saw again since, thank god!

The second time was at a rock festival. I was camping with a friend. We were like two helpless little girls. The last day, we had new neighbours in the camping. They were 5 or 6 35(?) years old men. They were screaming at us "hey girls, we are your new neighbours" and they were all laughing and looking at us all the time. We didn't want to answer. We managed to fell asleep anyways. Around midnight, there was a big shock against the tent. They actually sitted just in front of the entrance and were drinking beer and beer and beer...They started throwing themselves on the tent, trying to open it, shooting in it...we also thought they were gonna set it on fire at a point. There was nothing we could do, we were just emprisoned in that tent with crazy drunk bastard waiting for us to come out. I never felt that helpless. I was also dead-scared because I knew my friend could go mute with small stuff or stop speaking to people. I couldn't imagine what it would be like for her if they managed opening the tent. Fortunately, she had the great idea to suggest that we already put some clothes on and pack our stuff in case they burned the tent, so that we could escape quicly. That's what we did. She was perfect, and I discover that night that there was really more than met the eye in her.One hour later, they still were shooting in the tent so we called the police and they came quickly and then we left, jumped on the first train back home, leaving our wrecked tent there.

Now I can talk about it without crying, but I sometimes think about it and I think "That kind of stuff can never happen ever again."
Being completly helpless, not being able to defend yourself, being the weak one in such a situation, the damsell in distress, is the worst thing I have ever felt. My biggest fear is that it happens again. That is really the phobia which is more than just a ick-factor.

If I take this phobia further, it also include being drunk. I'm alcoholphobic, sort of. I hate the idea of drinking so much I wake up with no memory of what I did. I don't want to lose control of myself, of my life. It's the same thing about having Alzheimer or being seriously disabled. I hate the idea of being dependant on someone else or not have the entire control on my body or mind.

I guess that to sum it all, my biggest phobia is "non-controlled situations". (I'm no control-freak, it's just with my life, I definitly don't try to control people's life). When I think about it, spiders are lovely compared to my visceral fear!

I am petrified of sharks in the swimming pool.

I realise how much I suck. 😛

I kinda am as well... I'll randomly get the thought "Wait wait wait... I know it's impossible, but what if a shark randomly got in?" And then I'll freak out.

I don't really have any phobias, but let's see... I'm extremely afraid of Conflict. I'll do a great many things to avoid it!

On extension of that, I'm afraid of being disliked. Even if it's by someone I dislike, which is a great many people...

I'm afraid of killing/hurting anything. This is most apparent in the case of insects/arachnids.

I'm afraid of falling. But it won't stop me from skydiving or something crazy fun like that. 😉

I'm afraid of failing, especially in the case of academics. Can't even tell you how many "Oriana, you failed this class! You failed EVERY class! Fail fail fail!" dreams I've had.

This is more of an OCD, but I go slightly psycho when words are misspelled/misused/grammatically incorrect. Or txt talk. My mind explodes, and I die a little bit... 😛

On that first one...I used to be like that. Then I slowly learned to not give a crap what anyone thinks about me. If you like me, then great. If you don't like me, my world won't fall apart 🙂

For the second, I am the same way too. I'm actually afraid to go get my masters now because it's been so long since I've been in school that I'm almost convinced I've dumbed down to much and I will fail

Third, I used to be like that too. Then I started posting here on BB and it all went to hell hahahaha

Well, it's like, I get it, and I kinda have that mentality... The "Go 'head and Hate on Me, Hater" one, but at the same time the insight is totally overruled by the fear... Ah well, I figure I'll toughen up eventually. 😉

Well, nothing ventured nothing gained!

Lol, I watch my grammar/spelling everywhere. Especially on BB; after all, it's one of the main things that you can judge someone by.

Oh, and of course... I fear fear itself. 😉

If you have 5 haters...your goal by summer is to gain 10 ;)
My one fear is needles. I can't see them on television, I can't see them in movies, I can't even watch them when it's on a cartoon. Seriously, if I had to give someone insulin or an epipen or they'd die, then they would be S.O.L. I'm in the hopsital fairly often because of my heart condition, and they pretty much have to strap me down to the bed in advance because I will go crazy. Well, I'll either go crazy or just faint. Usually I fant. But, sometimes I don't and I've kicked doctors and yeah...I'm very mature for 22-years-old. lol I used to be good with it when I was a kid, but midway through high school it just blew up. I do have tattooes though, strangely.

Kicking in the tent, sorry, misuse of vocabulary! I'm okay now, fortunately, and so is my friend 😉 (but if someones says something like "being drunk is fun", we feel a sudden need to punch the person, particulary if it's someone who knows what happened!)

ah I see now. Well, I'm still glad you both are ok!
I'm really, really scared of deep water. When I was little my mum sent me and my big sister to swimming school so we would learn early, but I fell in to the deep end and almost drowned. Since then I have been terrified and I have never actually learnt how to swim because of this... I'm actually the only 24 year old I know that doesn't know how to swim 😀

I EXTREMELY dislike big crowds of people. I'm okay with people I don't know, and smaller groups of people, but I don't want it to be so crowded that other people are touching me. EW.

I also am terrified of the open grates/sewer covers/any sort of ground I can see through. I'm afraid that something I can see through cannot possibly hold someone's weight.

I also HATE breathing other people's air, or my own recycled air. I know, weird. See phobia #1. My husband thinks this one is funny though, and will often pin me down so he can cup his hands around my nose and mouth and breathe into that space to make me breathe his recycled air. It's disgusting.

And (as many know), David Bowie. That man is evil. I still will not watch labrynith ever again, despite how many people rave about that movie. He's creepy. I don't like his music, I don't like him. I don't like it when you people put him as the creepy Labryinth guy in your banners. Stop it.

Failure mainly.

I'm also extremely afraid of needles or anything to do with blood pressure or having my blood taken- so much so that I collapse when it's spoken about too much. It's a right pain, I've passed out twice in the middle of science lessons because of it.

YES!!! OMG I totally hate that. My husband teases me all the time about how I can't sleep facing him for this reason. I can't stand breathing hot air or recycled air. It gives me a panic attack!
