i'm not going to ask for yours, but i am going to ask what kinda phone no. there is in your country! what is a typical phone no in you country more like it???

well in norway it's like this, well oslo-> 22 10 11 01

well some people can write that same no. like this:
22 101 101 or 221 01 101*.... 22 is the district no in oslo, if they have 23 they are charcing extra for the call, cos it's and extra paying no.!

this might be a strange thread but i'm just so nosy!😉 so mods, if you don't like just close or delete!😉

Here in the United States (I think most everybody here) references their numbers as: 480- 555- 0535. If I dial outside of my area code (which is 480) I would dial 1-480-555-0535.
 
theres different codes for different areas in the u.k,where i live there would be 01656 then my number or in West wales it would be 01437 then the number....its a bit confusing...i sumtimes dial the wrong code if im in a hurry
 
We've got different number for every city e.g.for Lodz it's 0042, but for Warsaw it's 0022.You pay more if u call someone in another city or to sex phone numbers which begin from 0700-.It's sooo complicated....
 
free numbers start from 0800-,partially free from 0801- and home numbers are different in every city=that's conffusing!!!!
 
my country is perfect in every aspect as you can see- we can't even get normal phone numbers!!!
 
Not really, I sipmy don't call people- if they want something they call me.Besides that I use smoke signs😉
 
we hav codes for different parts of the country in UK. In Huddersfield it is 01484 and in Halifax it is 01422.
 
It's great...when I don't want to talk with someone I'm telling them that the sky was not clear....
 
apart from the country code (which is +0031 for the netherlands) the number consists of an area code (which you do not have to dial if you call within the same area), 3 or 4 digits, 1st one is a 0, and the personal part 7 and or 6 digits depending on the length of the first, the number can never be more then 10 digits. And for cell phone the area code is 06, and the personal part is 8 digits, note: the dialing without area code doesn't work for cellphone.

yeah we have that too.. different no. for every town7city.. like my home ton is 69.. bergen(on the other side of the country form where my home town is) has 55..

allycat: our country code is: +47... and cell phone no. have 40-49 and then six other no. after, or 90-99 and then six other no. after

shell: wow, that is a very long area code! LOL

You people have weird numbers. Here in Canada we keep it simple.

966-9999 (example of normal number)
1800-966-9999 (example of long distance)
(519) 966-9999 (example of number with area code).

I understand that in America you have to dial the area code, even if your call is to your next door neighbour?

oh well, just thought I;d add my Canadian knowledge. I'm not used to there being like 4 or less Canadians on ANY site.
 
Nope. It looks like we have the same phone number system as you Canadians.

480-844-1311 was my old home number, which is disconnected now.

(480) is my area code in Mesa AZ. The only time we have to dial the area code is when we dial...well, a different area code. In Phoenix, the major area code is (602). So to call Phoenix, I would dial 602-123-4567. Pretty simple. I like America's phone system.
 
In some cities in America you have to dial the area code every time. I have to in Denver. If there's 2 area codes for one city you have to do that, like here we have 303 and 720... so when I call my neighbor I have to dial 303-555-1234.

Yeah that's how I do it. I don't really understand the other ways people in other countries do it, its like math to me. Very confusing😕
 
Some cities in America have different types of phone lines. My aunt, who lives only about halfway across town from me, has her phone line connected to Tacoma. If she makes a phone call to Seattle, that's calling long-distance for her, but my phone line is connected to Seattle, so dialing to Tacoma is long-distance for me. Like grrarrg had said, to dial to Auburn, I have to dial the area code, too.

If it helps, Vietnam used to have six digits in the phone numbers, but a few years ago, it changed to seven digits.
