Piñata: Survival Island is coming on tomorrow 10/26/03 on AMC. I'm in California so its coming on at 7:15 P.M. and 11:00 P.M.

I rented Piñata: Survival Island from Netflix a couple months ago. As far as low-budget movies starring Buffy cast members go, this is much more watchable than the awful movie where Alyson Hannigan plays a heroin addict (my god that sucked!). It's a totally watchable late night cable horror movie. Plus, when Nick Brendon punches people, he doens't have to make the Xander "owie" face afterwards! 🙂

I watched this last night; and i agree with LD, it didn't totally suck, just moderately. And, honestly, i don't think it would have been so bad if the Pinata hadn't looked so bad. They could have made the story line better.... Like if the spirit of the pinata made someone it's vessel and killed throught them. In any case, i liked Nicky in it, he did well despite the terrible acting of the others.

Saw this last night, too! I was surprised by the actual semi-sort of decency of it....the acting wasn't great, though Nicky was great-all tough and sexy and stuff. I didn't like the end, either.

Fun bonus fact-You guys know the red head girl that was part of the pair that didn't believe the blonde girl in the pigtails-the student not the girl who drove around on the ATV-----That was Tressa DiFiglia---Nick Brendon's wife!

Also, i don't know her name, but the girl with really short dark hair who was making out with the guy from Sabrina, she was in an episode of Angel season one; "Expecting".

Jacklyn & Kindred, look at you two trivia mavens go! I'm impressed - I didn't know either of those things. Makes me kinda want to see this movie again.

You know, now that I'm thinking about the premise of this movie....why on earth would you have to travel to a remote island off the coast of south america in order to collect underwear?

yeah when i first read this thread i had no idea what this movie was and then i wachin flippin around on channels ad recognized it from this thread and then i watched it and then regretted watching it, it was dumb

Well, if you can't figure that out, i just don't think your'e worth my time....lol (i'm joking, of coarse), in all honesty, i think that your'e just about the smartest cookie in the jar....

I think that i caught the point of all of this somewhere in there: to earn money for ones respective *cough* not *cough* fraternity/sorority. Very respective indeed if the best they can come up with is hunting underwear, which by the way, they never specify if it's new or used.

that was a dumb movie i omly saw the end though so i dont know the premise

LMAO! I think you're on to something there Kindred. The metaphorical implications of hunting used underwear are huge! Let's say the undies are used. Obviously, the tighty-whities with skid marks represent the tortured past of the Pinata's soul. In hunting those who hunt the tighty-whities, the Pinata is acting out against forces it can't control! The sweaty-smellin' orange g-string: definitely a meditation on the cyclical nature of violence.

Yes, Yes! This makes so much sense! I must preach the gospel of dirty Fruit-of-the-Loom to the heathens! Converts! I must make converts! And then we'll start taking donations....
<LazyDolphin staggers off in search of unwitting disciples>

Yes LD, but make certain that they know their donations must be made in the form of their dirty underwear so that they might properly repent for their sins, which the underwear is also representative of.

Sweet! I'm so there...now we just need some supplies.
Baggies! We'll need baggies with which we can collect the donations! And a tastefully decorated changing-screen, so converts can pony-up their donations with a modicum of privacy. Hmm...possibly we could have some fliers or leaflets, maybe some baggy robe-type clothes to wear. And also a tambourine, to lend us that official "cult-y" air!

It occurs to me that to the untrained eye, this post has little to do with the topic at hand (the movie Piñata: Survival Island). The more astute observer, however, will note that....well, okay, the untrained eye is spot on.

Don't forget the decorations. I'm thinking x-mas lights, streamers, and pinatas of coarse (i know, lame).

And after the new members have paid their tithings, we can give them potato sacks to wear. Nice and itchy, repentant.

I think that we're really on to something great here. Soon we'll have a really successful cult on our hands. And lots of underwear.

Good work team.

Well, I finally watched this flick! Um...I'm glad that I saw it to say I saw it but that's 'bout it. It was just.

Yes but now you cvan fully appreciate the long ago abandoned cult that was LD's true calling. Can you not now more clearly see the truth behind it all?
