Okay, we've beat this horse almost to death, but let's take it for just one more ride. Assume Buffy's gonna have her usual seasonal romance again. As much as a lot of us hate it, Angel and Spike are pretty much out of the running due to the separate publishers thing (I assume guest spots will be allowed back and forth as long as they're kept reasonable and don't interfere with the other guy's story line). That means that we have to come up with a whole new love interest for our Slayer. Who will it be?

There seems to be quite a lot of interest in a Buffy/Xander pair up, but there are other candidates as well, both of the straight and gay variety. Let your imagination run wild. It can be either gender, either a regular on the show or someone new (I think the Scottish castle location would make it a perfect way to tie my favorite immortal swordsman in here, but I guess that's WAY too far out in left field).

However they manage to do it, I agree that the Immortal, whoever or whatever he, she, or it is, should be revealed at last to the fans. As presented in "The Girl In Question" this was just too intriguing a character to abandon. My personal fantasy is for some sort of confrontation between the Immortal and either Spike or Angel or both, so maybe it should be in the Angel comic rather than the Buffy one (a crossover between the two would really be great if it could be worked out between the two publishing companies, It could be like the old Marvel/DC crossovers.)

is it wrong that i want it to be Willow?
i just think that it would be SO something Joss would do...i don't know if he would turn it into a full blown relationship, but maybe the 'kiss of true love' could have come from Willow, and Buffy accepts that, but doesn't take it any further.
i know that i don't want it to be Xander...the Buffy/Xander relationship is more of a big brother/little sister deal, as was proven during Xander's dream in 'Restless.' someone mentioned it a while ago, Xander sexualized every woman in that dream, expect Buffy, showing us that he'd gotten over the crush he had on her in high school. the dream in the comic was funny...my jaw hit my knees when i read 'Are you coming to bed?' but then Xander's head popped off so i knew it was a dream, lol.

so, after that lengthy explination, if i can't have it be Spike, i'm gonna go for Willow or someone new.

Actually, I think you just gave us a very good reason why it may be Xander. You said he sexualised all women except for Buffy. I say, perhaps because his feelings for Buffy go deeper then just sexually; he has too much reverence for her to think of her that way.... in other words: true love.

maybe it will be like season five where dawn was her 'romance' in that her 'romance' will be being the figure-head/leader to all those new slayers.

ok, so this answer is influenced by the fact that i really just want it to be Spike...

Of course, if it just HAD to be Xander, there would be a slight amount of logic in it. The two had just lost people they loved, and they could start by sharing their mutual loss, perhaps over a strong adult beverage. Things could escalate... Even with that scenario, however, I just can't see any kind of a lasting relationship coming out of it. A Buffy/Faith or Buffy/Willow sort of thing would be the most unexpected, thus might be what's boiling in Whedon's devious mind. He did say once that, though he had never noticed it at the time, on retrospect there seemed to be an underlying hint of sexual tension between the Chosen Two. That would DEFINITELY be different, but I have my doubts about it getting past the comic book censors, whoever and whatever they are.

I dont' think Buffy should have a Season Eight sweetie, and hopefully Joss feels the same way. I like Buffy when she's alone. I'm not saying I dont' want her to eventually be happy but it's too soon for her to be in a relationship. I mean after all "Chosen" Buffy made a speech about her being unbaked cookies so as a result she doesn't need to be in a relationship because she's not done baking. So for her to enter into a relationship the very next season I think would kind of suck.

But this eight season takes place one and a half year after Chosen. Plenty of time to bake, if you ask me.

Yeah but she even told Angel it'd be a LONG time coming and a year and a half isn't that long. As so far what I'm getting from the comics is Xander and Buffy are both horny right now and want sex and not seemingly a relationship. Well maybe Xander does but not Buffy

Plenty Of Time...

Maybe not quite enough time to fully bake, but then a romance with Xander would only have to be half baked. (Aw, come on, SOMEBODY else must've been thinking it!)
