Mmmmmm...PIES!! Yes, that's right I'm talking about PIES. Pies! Pies! Pies! *ahem* Sorry, I think I've went a wee bit mad from a lack of sleep.:lol2:

Aaaanyways, there was a thread about popcorn so I thought there ought to be one about pies because they're great. So many lovely fillings. Sweet fillings, savoury fillings, human flesh fillings - all so tasty and delicious.

So my question is - Pies, eh?

Pumpkin is the best pie ever. I hate that it's only easy to find once a year. I make a mean pumpkin muffin, though.

apple pie.....

no my Nana's sweet mince pies she cooked for me on a christmas eve because nobody else liked or ate them

Ever been to London? There you'll sample Mrs. Lovetts meat pies, savoury and sweet pies, as you'll see. You, who eat pies, Mrs. Lovett's meat pies conjure up the treat pies used to be!

Ahem... Anyway, I find it amusing that the Scots took over the Alcohol thread, and we then go on to start a pie thread! The only vaguely interesting thing I have to say about pies at the moment is that before I went to see Sweeney Todd with my mum (which she loved, btw, to my great surprise) we got something to eat. She decided to go for a steak pie. All was well, till we went into the cinema and she saw what Mrs. Lovett pulled out of the oven. It looked exactly the same. I don't think she's touched a pie since!

Edit: I forgot all about mince pies! I love them. I shunned them for years cause no-one told me that mincemeat wasn't actually mince meat. And you can't beat a good apple pie either.

lol, well you know that a pie usually comes after alcohol - it was the logical next step ;)

Mmm...pie...*drool*

Our local butcher makes the best meat pies I've ever had...and you only have to look at me to think "Who ate all the pies" and understand that I know what I'm talking about...not that I'd discount the sweet pies...I'm a big fan of apple pie à  la mode.

Oddly though, I've never eaten a Scotch pie, though I'm a fan of the very similar pork pie, especially a good Melton Mowbray one...is it any wonder I'm such a fat bast...

I know we Scots have some disgusting food but the Scotch Pie may be one of the worst for being grusomely disgusting - but I'll still eat them with beans on top. Just waiting for that heart attack. :)
Well, the only pies I have experience with is the dessert variety! I love apple pie. I'm the pie maker in our family, I always have to make them for the celebrations.

I FOUND A RECIPE! I can make my own manapua! It's kind of involved (I have to make the char siu while I'm at it), but VERY WORTH IT.

As soon as I have money, I have a new project.

Hmm, I guess I´m gonna sound weird again. Things are as usual.

Not a very big fan of pies. Then it comes to "real" food pies I´ve never liked the pastry. Really don´t know why. The "dessert" pies is another thing. Love the pastry in those. Apple pie is ok, but my clear favourite is the rhubarb one. Yummy, yummy, yummy! But to tell the truth the "sause" one should have to it is 10 times more yummy. One could easily eat a whole bowl of that. Not that your stomach would approve, but god it tastes good.

But basically, no pies for me.

Is you sayin' that you is gay? No offense meant, if you is not sayin' that.
As you might have gathered by my ramblings, I love pies. A lot of people have mentioned apple pies and I hate them. I'm not a particularly big fan of apples but in pies, all cooked, I think they taste even worse.

A topic called pies? There must be some subtle innuendo going on here.

And, by the way, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Scotch pie. It might harden your arteries( wink wink nudge nudge) and ultimately lead to a heart attack, but they're edible.

lol. No, that wasn´t my intention to say at all. But a laugh is always welcomed. No, I´m not gay but it doesn´t bother me to be called that.

you have such a dirty mind ;)
Ahh, pies. Not a fan. Never have liked them. Go on, stare.

Ah. The pie innuendo.
Somewhere else [another bbs - originally begun on usenet] not as family friendly and known for its insanity/inanity, long ago, I created an in-house religion on this concept. I delivered sermons, the commandments were pronounced, acolytes were acquired, the group sang hymns, and of course the "virtual sacrament" was consumed.

But, to the original topic... pies are the ties that bind the world together.
Or is that more along the line of the other conversation?

The good thing about pies is, there is so much variety, choice. So that once you get bored with one pie, you just head on out looking for the next.
i'm a pie fiend! i make all kinds
i love tarts too, see now i can't help but make it sound dirty *sigh* and pies were such wholesome things
best pie that I make is my chicken and vegie pie mmmmm with a cornbread crust! but I've been known to make (and then eat) strawberries rhubarb pie and applebalckberry pie! a la mode all the way 🙂

Pies at the footy!

Okay, having said that...I've never actually had a meat pie at the footy, on account of never having been to the footy (I'm a queenslander, okay?)...but it's one of those things I'm gonna do one day!

I love pies...it's all about the pastry covered surprise.

The pies I know I don't like...magpies....because they're mean and territorial and Eddie Maguire has that team....😛

They used to make a cherry pie that was much better, but for some reason they quit selling them.

Gee, shows how long ago it was I last ate at Mc! They still had the cherry pocket-pie back then, and I used to love it.
I love apple pie, but i really can't stand other pies. They just suck. They don't come even near of taste of original apple pie.
But meatpie as food is quite good, but if idon't have to eat it, i don't eat it.

I really like apple pie but am allergic to apple so that sucks, i would say rhubarb pie with custard mmmmmmmmmmm x

My kind of girl. Like I didn´t know that already? ;)
When I was a kid, my grandmother made the best sweet potatoe pies in the world, but she toot the recipe with her to the grave. Not even her daughters' pies could compare. When I was in the Navy, one of the local bakeries in Newport made the only pineapple pies that I have ever had, and they were great. Then of course, there's cherry, key lime, and cheesecake in any form whatsoever, and chocolate, coconut, and pecan...

Of course, no true son of Georgia could EVER forget the greatest pie of all, the deep dish peach pie, served still hot and topped with a huge scoop of ice cream.

Of the non-dessert variety, there are chicken or beef pot pies.

The strangest pie that I have ever heard of was something that Nabisco came up with years ago, and went the way of the "Titanic." A pie that used Ritz crackers, soaked in apple juise, as the filling.
