Oh, don't get me wrong, Foi. As much as I dislike it I realise that cars are an essential part of some peoples lives and that no matter how good public transport is there will still be people that need heir own transport. It's just about common sense and using your head really.
Like you say, carpooling is an option that many choose not to take simply because they can't be bothered with picking others up or waiting for a lift themselves so rather than one car on the road that morning there are three or four. Then you have those that get in the car for short trips. Where I live there are many convenient local shopping centres and the main ones all have an excellent bus service (you never need wait more than fifteen minutes for a bus into the town centre) yet so many people will still jump in the car for the sake of a loaf of bread.
I think I notice it more than many people because I'm looking for it. Ever since I was a kid I have believed that there is a major problem with people and their selfish habits regarding cars. Again, I'm not talking about the single mums who have three kids to get to school and a load of shopping to get home. I'm talking about the guys that can't be bothered to walk to get a bag full of shopping from the grocery store when it would only take then ten minutes at most.
Anyway, like I said, this isn't what your thread was about so I won't whine about this anymore. It's just one of those pet peeves that annoys me sometimes. 😉
