Pity for Drusilla

Am I the only one who really feels sorry for Drusilla? And I'm not talking about her story and what Angelus did to her. I just watched Redefinition and the way she breaks down after Angel sets her on fire just breaks my heart! I know she's soulless and evil but she always seem like a little frightened child to me :-(
Is this some kind of my personal issue or do you feel the same?? 🙂
 
Well on some level I feel sorry for all vampires. They are all victims, forced to become monsters against their will. It's tragic through and through. Add to that the fact that Drusilla had taken her vows to become a nun and to generally try to do good in the world on the very day on which she lost that choice, and it's really heartbreaking.

All Dru really ever had going for her was Spike but his preferences toward the "lighter side" took that away from her, (well ok, she is just as much to blame for leaving him, but still.) Without a partner to help see her through her miserable, evil existence, she was all alone. As a creature who she'd had no part in becoming.

I love that in the comics, Spike
chose to give the soul to her.
That way, even though it meant more suffering temporarily, she could eventually choose to do good like she'd wanted to as a human being, and find some pleasure in the company she kept.

I always felt the same way. She was just so child-like, you couldn't help but care for her and feel sorry for her, at least IMO. And that scene in "Redefinition" did get to me.

That scene of Drusilla sobbing in agony in "Redefinition" killed me. Poor girl; she just wanted her Daddy!
 
I like Drusilla but I wasn't sorry to see her burn. Maybe just because of the fact that she had a too important role for dieing in Angel season 2!
 
No, you're not the only one. I feel bad for Druscilla in that episode too!

I agree, when we got to see Druscillas back story I was just heartbroken. I like her as a vampire, but it feels really sad to think about what she could've done and been like as a human.

Oh my god! I had no idea! I really, really, really want to read the comics now and see more of that!
