For example, I've always wanted to live in Australia; until I realised that I have a MAJOR insect and snake phobia. Bright side: I'd probably die of a heart attack before a creature's venom could kill me.

It's always been my dream to live in the US, specifically a big city in California, but there's just no way I'd ever be able to afford it. It's not as if I have a career that can help me get a green card/visa/whatever. It's a pipe dream but one I'll probably never let go of completely.

Anywhere in Southern California! Seriously, San Diego area, LA, Palm Springs. Everytime I visit these areas, I never want to leave. I was just in LA earlier this month, and one of my friends gave me the talk again, about how I should move down there since I love it so much.

What stops me? Their politics, high taxes, and high cost of living. Maybe I'll cave one of these years, but for now, I'm a hard pass on living down there.
 
France or Australia. Lots of factors as to why not. Money, climate & animals are factors...

I forgot to mention climate. Australia is WAY too sunny for me. 🔥
My wishes were always simpler. I love my country and I love the South, but, when I was younger, I would have loved to live somewhere high up in the mountains. Now that my lungs are damaged, I wouldn't be anle to stand the high altitude and lower oxygen. Just another opportunity lost.
 
I'd love to have a small stable yard. Health, money and the fact that I actually like the off day off stops me.

Also: Berlin, Scotland (again), se real African countries ... but I have debts and school children and a partner who is less keen on selling everything to go abroad than I am. And who knows, if he were to say "Let's go", perhaps I'd get cold feet.
 
I'd love to live in England but immigration laws are getting tougher, plus I have two cats who would be hard to relocate.

You could always go a little less distance and stay in New Zealand. No snakes and the worst spider bite may raise a welt that does no further damage. Lots of mountains and beautiful scenery (confirmed by my daughter who went there to complete her Master's thesis on mythology). The cost of living may be high but if you want the good qualities of Australia with the mistakes erased, it is worth considering.

I'd love to try out living in New York, but I don't have the money for it...

I want to live where I lived before; I was happy there. The house hasn't been sold but the same circumstances don't exist and not all the same people live there anymore. It is not even a possibility.
 
The West Country, mainly Cornwall in the Uk.... But, it's too far from family at the moment.
Spain, but I don't speak Spanish and it's like above too far.
New Zealand has always appealed to me as well!
 
What made me think of New Zealand was the following video for Coldplay / Paradise. You are the co-pilot of an Airbus crossing Lake Wakatipu for a landing towards the northeast at Frankton serving Queenstown on the south island:


The only reasons to not go there are:

1. People drive on the left. I have driven in England and Barbados and it can be annoying - you can never relax if you started driving on the right.
2. High cost of living including the cost of getting anywhere else in the world.
3. Tectonic activity - it is an earthquake zone.
 
I've never been shy about being a complete yankophile. I spent five months in America on a student visa and had an amazing time.

I'm a bit of a wimp and not good with practical stuff, so the idea of moving there on a more permanent basis is pretty scary. Maybe'll be able to work something out down the line. I am certainly going back to visit friends and see new places.
 
I wouldn't want to live in any other country. I havent figured this one out yet, stuff trying to navigate a new one!

I love my little cottage, so much, but some days I do wish to pick it up and plonk it somewhere closer to the coast with a bit more rain, a bit less dust and a bit closer to the shops of civilisation (but not too close! I need the stars!).

There are lots of kiwis where I am now, (cos there's lots of sheep 😉 ) but I'd rule out NZ as a living destination, unless you like to live dangerously with the possibility of being blown up by a volcano or swallowed by an earthquake. Personally, I prefer snakes and spiders.
 
I want to basically go everywhere except my city of Nowhere. Korea, Indonesia and Dubai. I ain't Jeff Bezos so I can go afford any of this and uni is coming up and I got alot of languages to learn.

How many major earthquakes have occurred on the islands of New Zealand, how many aftershocks happened after Christchurch's last major earthquake, try to keep the answer below 2,000.
How many active volcanoes are on all of New Zealand's islands?
 
Norway, Russia, America, London or Australia.

Money is stopping me mostly and visas and such.
