i wanted to draw attention to this because, correct me if im wrong and ill take it all back, but this person is trying to pass off the poem spike recites in not fade away as his own.

from the buffy vs angel website:

Cut to:
17 INT. BAR - DAY
Spike is sitting on a stool on a stage, talking into a hand-held microphone.
The spotlight is on him as he performs a poetry reading. Behind him is a
sign that reads "Poetry Slam, Thursdays 4:00". Holding the mic
in his left hand, he's got his right hand draped over the mic stand, holding
a glass of whiskey in his fingertips. The audience is silent.
SPIKE
"My soul is wrapped in harsh repose,
midnight descends in raven-colored clothes,
but soft...behold!
A sunlight beam
cutting a swath of glimmering gleam.
My heart expands,
'tis grown a bulge in it,
inspired by your beauty...
effulgent."
MAN IN THE AUDIENCE
Yeah!
The audience applauses. Spike receives a standing ovation.
MAN IN THE AUDIENCE
That was great, man.
SPIKE
(standing, smiling)
Thank you. That was for Cecily. All right. This next one's called
"The Wanton Folly of Me Mum."

Midnight decends in raven colored clothes
But soft. Behold.
A sunlight beam...
Cutting a swath of glittering gleam
My heart expands
'Tis grown a bulge in it.
Inspired by your beauty...
Effulgent

That is the one from the show and the one from the site.

They are exactly the same.

He won an award for stealing

Eurgh. From a creative viewpoint, absolutely disgusting.

There's a "report copyright violation" option which, surely, this must be?!

I'm suprised that
1) anyone would do something that supid
2) there seem to be no buffy fans on that "creative-poems" site
3) no one googled the poem just to find out if it's for reals or just plagarism

He did change "glimmer" to "glitter". So he's an editor, not a poet. And a bad one at that. C'mon guy, everyone knows gleam glimmers, heh. Which Buffy writer penned the original?

I tried to register to give them a piece of my mind, but they won't send me an authentication email. Chicken-dropping, Mickey Mouse software.

yep, same here...i registered hours ago, and i'm still waiting! lol
but if they've pulled the thing down, then problem solved, right? i still can't believe he actually thought he could get away with it. one of the comments he received said something like 'And you said your poems were bad!' lmao

Edit:

Which Buffy writer penned the original?

Well, 'Fool For Love' was written by Douglas Petrie and 'Not Fade Away' was writen by Joss Whedon and Jeffery Bell, so one of those guys probably wrote the poem...but i think my money'd be on Joss.

I have something that may shed some light🙂

Hehe - NOBODY messes the the Spike Poetry

Well that was quick, lol. It's gone now. I missed all the drama. I guess that guy thought there weren't many Buffy/Angel fans around anymore

My money's on Petrie. That guy's a genius! Not that Joss is not a genius... I'm just sayin.

I loved that poem because it managed to sound completely silly at one point and wonderful at another. And I liked that episode for showing us that Spike had continued to write poetry--just another piece of the Spikey puzzle.

I wonder if it means anything that the 2 vampires with souls are creative. Angel draws. Spike writes poetry.

I think that it may have been a collaboration between Petrie and Joss. Doug mentions in the commentary that he was really proud of the making the rhyme with "tis grown a bulge in it" but my thoughts would be Joss probably tweaked it as well.

didn't Spike draw too? during 'Crush' when Buffy finds Spike's little shrine to her, there are pencil drawings of her. i know we never actually see him draw anything, if memory serves, but i doubt the drawings are leftover from Angel's time...they all seem recent.
