This is from a prospero message board. I've seen other whedonverse crew post at the Firefly one, and they're accepting it as fact at Whedonesque, so I'm going to say it is who they say it is until I hear different -

Hey all...

Well, it's all true. We're cancelled and we're off for good. No new ep on Thursday... In a way I'm glad because Thursday's episode didn't quite come together the way I would have liked and I would have hated for that to be our final word. Eps 9-12 were going to be pretty cool, though. Lots of twists and scary stuff.

Anyway - thanks to those of you who care. It's been a bumpy ride for sure. If you feel inclined you can bug Fox studios to issue the season on DVD. I know they are thinking about it - and you'd get to see all the "lost" eps, which will be airing overseas.

Again - thanks for watching. We had a blast.

Hmm that's weird as she just posted on Fox's board asking for the fans to show their support to try and keep it on the air...

Also seems a bit weird that she would choose that particular one...

Though looks like Fox has removed the PP stuff from their website...never a good sign...
 
I saw the same message posted over at the Point Pleasant forums, and they were sourcing it as the official PP message board.
 
Yeah, I don't know what the exact story is on those prospero boards. As I said before there's another one for Firefly. I know I've seen Adam Baldwin post there, and I'm pretty sure Joss Whedon as well.

The actual URL does have Fox in it, but I don't know what if anything that means.

yeah, I'm really unhappy about this. It's a show that I enjoyed taking time out to sit down and watch for the first time in a long while. I hope the viewers, including myself, get some closure! It feels like I was reading a novel, set it aside for a week, and find that someone has ripped out the last chapters. ...and it was an original copy, first edition.. and signed by the author. (That's how much I liked it.)
 
i'm really mad that it got cancelled....i thought it was really good. it also sucks that there's not going to be any closure to it....i really hope that they put it out on DVD.... *goes off to write an angry letter to fox*
 
I cant believe it, honestly pretty soon there are going to be no good programs on TV and I'll hve to resort to watching reality TV, which completely contradicts itself because it is just so fake. As i've said before i dont even know why i start watching new programs or any programs anymore that are any good because sure enough they will get cancelled e.g. tru calling, buffy, angel and now point pleasant. I am honestly devastated because i loved this program so much!!!
 
I kind of lost interest in it.

It had such a bad time spot though. Thursdays are such a good night for TV and there's a lot of high rated shows on to compete with it. They would have been better airing it on a night where there's not much to compete with...
 
Of course they would cancel it right before the big reveal-I REALLY WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WAS ON THAT TAPE!!!! *grumbles* Ah well...here's hoping for that DVD!

it's true!! now we have mystery episodes AND a mystery tape.
I think that's TERRIBLE that they canceled it!! I really liked that show, and it had such an interesting story plot!! *clenches fists* Grrrr.....

I wanted to see how Christina was going to lose it since the priest died, which was awesome because the giant cross fell on him.
 
They're saying all over the place that Point Pleasant is being replaced with the 6 episodes of Tru Calling Season 2. Anyone know if that's true or not?

Ok I did not wish this on Point Pleasant at all...but I KNEW this was going to happen.

Said it in a post several months ago. That Fox would eventually cancel Point Pleasant, and we'd FINALLY get the last 6 episodes of Tru Calling aired.

That's why I didn't watch PP...I bet it could have been great...but I just DON'T TRUST FOX and will never get into another Fox show EVER.
 
it's bad news and yet good news for me..
bad since I was just getting interesed in it ..but good cuz now I'll get to see the last 6eps of Tru Calling *shrug*
that being said it's so annoying when shows get cancelled mid-season :confused2
 
OK, so sorry folks, but I heard that PP was canceled and did a little dance! Woohoo! Ding dong the witch is dead! No more overwrought, corny lines creeping into my OC time through the "Up Next On Point Pleasent" ads! Although I did like the evil guy and the young priest...I only watched the first three episodes, so I never really caught anyone's name. But to me, it just seemed like "All Marti, All the Time!" with all of the angst and mysticism of Buffy and none of the humor or fun. It was like watching "I Only Have Eyes for You" over and over again!

Ok, enough bashing. I really liked the actress, the blonde, whoever she was. The lead girl. She was really good, but not enough to keep me interested in the character.
 
I never really got into the show. I watched the first two epps, and then I forgot to tape it one Thursday and never remembered. Oops!

Oh well, at least we get to have Tru Calling. TONIGHT! Yes! :wiggle:
 
I, like Feigenbaum I watched the first two episodes but kind of lost rack after that. If it comes out on DVD I'll probably pick it up just to see what happened.
 
WICKED! I just got an email from amazon saying that Point Pleasant is headed for dvd later this October!! Good news for anyone --like me-- that was devastated by the cancellation and who needed closure for at least the rest of the filmed episodes! Here's a portion of what was written in the email:
