Have you ever played one of the pokemon games or watched the cartoon or collected the collectables? Got any thoughts about it?

The latest games on Nintendo DS have 493 different pokemon (they always add, never take away). Diamond and Pearl versions are the latest in the main series, but there are also Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon Ranger spin-off games on the DS which are each becoming series of their own.

The cartoon TV series has well over 500 episodes, apparently, despite only running for ten-ish years because they get through a ridiculous number each season. More episodes in total than The Simpsons already.

The 11th movie is coming up, but I think they all go direct-to-DVD now except in Japan.

Pokemon trading cards and other merchandise are still popular. Tours still happen across Japan, America and Europe to promote the games and distribute rare pokemon like Mew (they download them into your game cartridge).

I think when Pokemon first came about I collected the cards with my brother, I'd go down to Woolworths every Saturday! A few years later when I got my first gameboy I stole his Pokemon red game as well! I never really got into it though, I remember selling one of his rare cards at school, he never found out though 😉

I liked pikachu, though I never saw him on the game!

In the original games, I think pikachu appeared in a forest near the start. They only made a big deal out of pikachu in Pokemon Yellow version for Gameboy, otherwise pikachu doesn't play a big part in the games like it does on TV.

I remember you could have Pikachu follow you around in the yellow game! When I was into Pokemon and played it, I never had Pikachu evolve lol, just like Ash in the series.

They added Minun and Plusle in Ruby and Sapphire versions. They look a little too close to Pikachu considering they're not part of its evolutionary chain.

I've played at least one game from each generation of hand-held games... except for the new ones, cause I don't have a DS. I would love to play them though. I've also seen all of the movies except for the latest one with Manaphy. When I was younger I used to also watch quite a bit of the anime series. I've seen most of the episodes up until halfway through Johto. They are kind of repetitive though.

I do still totally dig pokémon. I guess that makes me kind of a geek, but oh well.

me and my brother used to watch the show when we were kids. we collected the cards and the sticker albums, but we never had any of the games. we weren't big computer geeks back then.

i used to draw the characters a lot, my sketch book for art class used to be so full of them my teacher told me off. lol. my fave pokemon back then was bulbasaur, don't know why, just thought he was cute, lol

I used to like Pokemon a lot when I was a kid. I collected the cards, watched the show, and played the video games. I was a real Team Rocket fanatic too. I was actually a member of Team Rocket for Halloween one year. LOL

The games I always found fun. Those are the ones that got me liking RPG video games. What can I say, I'll take an interesting story over stealing cars and beating up hookers anytime.

Edit: My favorite Pokemon was and always will be Togepi. I used to have the talking Togepi stuffed animal. :blush:

Love Pokemon! not so much the show but love the games. I got into it because my kids were into when they were little and i had no idea what they were talking about with their pikachu's and bulbasaur's and the like. We've had just about every incarnation of the games over the years and while i usually shared my kids games, i did buy myself Pokemon Pearl when it came out last year. My kids are playing Pokemon on the Wii at the moment. Fav pokemon: Lapras, all the evee evolutions and Articuno.

I used to watch the show almost everyday after school and I used to collect the cards when they first came out. My brother and I loved playing Pokemon Stadium and the Pikachu game and Pokemon snapshot. My favorite character by far would have to be charmander. I had Charmander cards in like 5 different languages and I had the holographic Charzard card which I thought was awesome.

My kids are playing Pokemon on the Wii at the moment. Fav pokemon: Lapras, all the evee evolutions and Articuno.

I stopped playing the Wii game because it's too frustrating. Everything is a tournament and I hate playing for 30 minutes then losing and making zero progress.
I have all seven evolutions of eevee through breeding them. The only one I've trained to a high level is Vaporeon but I think the coolest one is psychic Espeon. I also have a thing for Leafeon.
