LOL! Good answer, AB101. I'm very aware and involved with politics, but I disagree with some of the other folks here. Age is an excuse. Young people should be having fun & living their lives. Let old boring people deal with old boring issues. Young people get involved in politics when it directly impacts their lives (i.e. Vietnam) and then they go back to doing their own thing. Adolescence/teenagedom is too important a time in a persons life to waste it watching CNN or volunteering to stuff envelopes for your local city councilman's re-election campaign.

I completley agree with you,I think if you're 16 or under you shouldnt have to worry about politics,as if you can do anything about them anyway...you should enjoy you're teenage years,I mean i'll watch the news once a day maybe, but I'm not gonna go overboard.

I agree, but what is your definition of the young person, who should be having fun. Cause if you are like a toddler, then I think it's ok to not care, but if you are sixteen and have never even heared of the UN (yes there are, no names), you have a serious problem imo!

I think what you're talking about is a different issue, Allycat. Apathy and ignorance aren't the same thing. There are plenty of people who know what the UN is but couldn't possibly care less what Kofi Anan is up to inside its walls. 🙂

I mean ppl who don't have a clue, who don't know ... I asked a few ppl, age ranged from 14 to 18 the next three questions:

Do you know what the NATO is?
Do you know what the UN is?
Do you know what N*Sync is?

Most of them said 'no' to the first 2 and 'yes' to the last one!

Truthfully, I don't know a thing about politics.. it's not that I don't care, it's just that I haven't taken the time to understand and read about what's going on. With all the tv I watch, you'd figure I'd turn on the news once in awhile...😉

I feel the exact same way.

HEY its not my fault! I am slow lol 🙂 and proud of it!

Allycat, you shouldn't be so surprised, there's a reason the world is the way it is... and i suggest not to think you can change it, because i still believe and always use the sticks in a river analogy... trying to change the world is like throwing sticks to the river hoping to make a dam, you just can't, and the truth is that no matter how many people throw sticks on the river, in the end, there's only a river with sticks... not a dam....

me, pessimistic? who woulda thought?

🙁 That's so sad. I mean, what about the beavers?

Beavers - I can never take them seriously since "Naked Gun" - "Nice beaver" 😀 😀😀 It got a bit embarassing, however, trying to explain American slang to friends who didn't get the joke.
