I just watched the episode where Giles girlfriend gets killed by Angel. Its so sad and he is so upset, ahhh poor Giles

🙁 Mrs calender was mighty attractive, she has been missed, far better than his other bit of crumpet. he had in season 4

Yeah I watched that one a few weeks back and I was surprised how emotional it was. I thought Jenny was wicked and shouldn't have been knocked out of the series so quickly though she did make a good chase round the school for Angel. 🙄

Hey, I like Olivia...the only problem with Giles/Jenny is that Buffy didn't have the gutso to kill Angelus before hand...How could she let her Watcher suffer like that when she had ample opportunity to kill Angelus in the first place?? I guess it shows whom she really cares about...

The scene where Angeelus kills Jenny is still one of those scenes where, when I watch it, I *still* wish it turns out differently. I dunno how to explain it, except to say I've seen almost every episode multiple times, so I ALWAYS know what's gonna happen. Passions is one episode that is still painful to watch, more so than The Gift, almost moreso than The Body.

Yeah, but for me it's different. Actually, I really enjoy The Body (when I'm prepared for it anyway. FX has a nasty habit of showing it out of order when they need a filler episode for their schedule. Then I find myself thinking "Not prepared emotionally!") But it's poignent and heartbreaking, but also lovely for some reason. Passions is just...painful. I know, I'm not explaining it very well.

One of the things I love about this forums is seeing the different reactions to different aspects of the show. I think you could probably do a whole paper on how people react to Buffy.

i dont think it shows that she cares about angel more than giles at all, dont know if u know what true love is i know i dont but thats what she felt for angel, im sure if u were her ud not find it easy to stick a stake thru that persons heart.

I think Passion is probably the best done Buffy episode, period, just because it's so painful. I feel like I'm *there* inside Giles when he sees Jenny dead in his bed and drops his glass, shattering it just as the operatic duet climaxes.

But what really makes my skin crawl is the voiceover by Angelus, so detached and philosophical, while he's stalking and feeding and *causing* the kind of grief and hatred he's discussing in the abstract.

I always have to check the locks on all the doors and windows and draw all the curtains before watching Passion.

Passion is an AMAZING episode! I really love it. I don't know why but I seem to enjoy putting myself through that emotional rollercoaster! It is heartbreaking but one of the best episodes of Buffy - ever!

But poor Giles. ASH is an excellent actor & the whole cast were exceptional in that episode! It is pretty much the culmination of the whole Angelus story arc & it is done so well. I especially LOVE the Angelus voiceover & when he is watching Buffy as they get the phonecall...

The scene of Jenny die-ing and even more the scene that Gilesfinds her makes me NOT liking the character of Buffy. poor Giles, but also poor Spike. Today he is the one suffering from Buffy egocentric behavior!

No, Buffy didn't kill Jenny it was Angelus! It was Angelus' fault that she died - nobody else's. If Buffy had tried to kill Angel before that happened then maybe she would have died - who knows? If she wasn't ready to kill him she may have fought badly and lost. I think it was right of her not to try until she knew she would succeed! I love Buffy even more for that - it shows she isn't a cold, heartless slayer; she is a girl with feelings!

Hmmm by my opinions she show that's she has feelings allright, has lacks of interest in others. She's really ego-centric. She has allways been!

I always kind of put myself in Buffy's position & there have been times where she has done something that I've questioned (mainly in episodes like Anne or When She was Bad) but in the end she always gets past that & helps others. I think I have sympathy because she has been through so much and will never have a normal life so I cut her some slack. She does save the world on a regular basis! 🙂

Yeah I think Buffy has it tough and if I had to kill my ex, I wouldn't exactly find it easy especially if I still loved him. I also find it very hard to believe that Buffy hasn't had a nervous breakdown yet.

Well, the other Scoobs have a hard time too, though they are not the chosen ones and don't have superpowers they help out too. And about killng your ex ... they could have also captured him and locked him up, untill they found a way to reverse the spell.

Except for they didn't know it was possible until the very end of season 2. Jenny had told them it wasn't, and it was by accident that they found out it was. But yes, Buffy had opportunity to kill him, just as people had more than ample opportunity to kill spike. I find it slightly unbelievable that these vampires live as long as they do, but I chalk it up to flawed writing, not a reflection on the characters. I still love the show though.

The scoobies have a hard time of it too but in the end they are helping Buffy because they want to - they have their own lives as well. Buffy used to have to do a lot of training which left her with little social life and when she did find someone that she liked that knew her secret she finds out he's a vampire, she sleeps with him and he turns evil, he kills Jenny and she blames herself, he gets his soul back and she has to kill him etc etc. All that at 16/17 years old? I wouldn't have been able to do what she does now, let alone when I was still in school! I would have definitely had a breakdown.

Also, at 16 years old she should be making mistakes! Unfortunately in her world they have been ones with terrible consequences but she's still human!
