Popcorn - Abhor or Adore?

So popcorn, huh.

It was once corn, then it's popped and it becomes a fluffy little ball. It might seem harmless enough, but I've come to realise most people have very distinct opinions of popcorn. How about you? Do you worship every popcorn you put into your mouth or do you hate the little buggers with a fierce vengeance and refuse to even touch 'em?

How do you like them? Sweet and sugary, or salt and buttery? Micro-wave, old fashioned on the stove, or the ones at the cinema?

Any fun anecdotes regarding popcorn? Or if you have a convenient corn story to tell, please do go ahead.

I can't stand it, but if I eat even the smallest but while at the cinema, ill eat loads, while thinking this is foul, which is very odd.

I love popcorn. Especially the stuff at the cinema. Home made stuff never seems as good to me. I always choose sweet, but I think that's more out of habit than distinct preference: I always love the salted stuff when I have it. The more exotic types like toffee and *shudder* chocolate are disgusting. Not that toffee is particularly exotic... I don't have any popcorn anecdotes though... Should I? Am I missing out on interesting popcorn related events?

I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to popcorn but I always seem to end up choking on the stuff. I guess I'm a bit of a clumpsy eater. I dunno, is it easy to choke on popcorn?

The thing that always gets me with popcorn at the cinema isn't the people eating it being annoying or anything like that but that it's the easiest thing to spill. God knows how many times people have spilled popcorn over themselves trying to find a seat.

I love popcorn! Luckily I have this amazing popcorn maker stand thing, that makes movie theater popcorn (which is my favorite) I just like the fresh tast of it and definitly love is buttery. :smile:

I never WANT movie theater popcorn, but if we get it, I eat it all. I enjoy caramel popcorn, though. Mostly the stuff that comes in the peanut butter Chex mix

Mmmmm, I love popcorn!

Movie popcorn (or as you all call it, 'cinema popcorn') is my favorite, but I'm weird and never butter it. I hate overly-buttered popcorn, especially when it's wet with grease. Eeyuck. So yeah, unbuttered movie popcorn is my all-time favorite, but I also love air popped popcorn. And as for microwavable popcorn, my favorite is that SmartPop kind. Like I said, I don't like it overly-buttery.

As for other types of popcorn, I'm not usually a fan of the mixture of salty and sweet, but caramel corn and kettle corn are amazing. And at my old beach house (we don't go there anymore, boo :[) they had a store that made all kinds of popcorn, and they had this cheese kind that was oh so delicious.

Thanks a lot...now I'm hungry!

i only ever eat popcorn during movies other times i find it tastes terrible there must be some correlation between movies and popcorn 😉 lol

I like popcorn. I don't really get it at the movies, because my husband puts loads of butter on it, and I gets to be too much. He'll have popcorn and I'll have a pretzel with cheese.

We eat a lot of popcorn at home. I like the mini-bags, because then you don't have to share! 🙂

When we got married, we just had to have the popcorn popper on our registery. So we ended up getting one as a gift. It's fun to watch the kernels start popping into popcorn. I bring it in to school sometimes for a treat for the kids, and they just love watching the kernels pop. It's exciting.

I love it! I make it all the time, thanks to my trusty little popcorn machine (this). The main problem I have with microwave popcorn is that, although I love it, I don't really like it when it's way too buttery or tastes like nothing, and there's not much that's in between the two extremes. And there's really nothing better than the kind you get at the movies with either no butter or just a little bit on the top.

I also really like the cinnamon popcorn that is bright RED. It is sooo good I always eat all of that out of the 3 way divided cans cause no one else in my family likes that kind. :smile:

I'm not crazy about pop corn, but I do like it. Salty that is, of course (anything else is insane!). I like both the real kind and the microwave kind – actually, pop corn is the only thing that I eat if it's been in a microwave (I don't believe in microwaves).

Love popcorn. At Christmas we always get the cans DDD mentioned that have caramel, butter and cheese popcorns, and it never lasts very long. 🙁

Also love movie popcorn, and it looks like I might be going to a movie tonight. And I'm going on Friday too! Dunno if I'll get popcorn though, hmm.

Popcorn is the best!

But it must be real popcorn, no microwaves. And lots of salt no butter or other strange things.

I bought a popcorn machine awhile ago, made my life much easier. 🙂

Movie popcorn is the best.

Funny, I have a mental image of someone standing outside the theater asking people to buy them some popcorn because they don't want the cinema just the popcorn.
Just imagine underage kids asking someone to buy them booze and you have the comparison.

erm yeah love it, sweet, salted, with toffee on (best popcorn ever had was from the Odeon that closed down in the town when i was ickle.... nicest toffee popcorn EVER... well for me)

I LOVE popcorn. That might have something to do with my wierd love for movies, but I dunno. I like any kind of popcorn (except kettle corn, yuck...) but my all time favorite is cinema popcorn and M&Ms...
