Music to die for: how genre affects popular musicians' life expectancy

I didn't know the life expectancy gap between popular musicians and the average population is so wide. Kinda shocking.

Oh man. I know in ATL he was complaining he was not feeling well but damn. Two things I find shocking...
1- he died
2- he was friggin 57.. that makes me feel old.

The graph doesn't really make much sense. The general population life expectancy is based on the year, while the musician life expectancy is based on the style of music. While style of music and year are correlated, they can not necessarily be directly compared (genre of music have larger windows or smaller windows of popularity). Plus it's not really outlined how they chose the people to include in the music categories.

On each point, the musician life expectancy is based on the style of music, while the general population's life expectancy is based on the corresponding musician's birth date.

For example, if the pop music sample includes 3 pop musicians, two was born in 1940 and the other is 1942. Then the corresponding general population is the weighted average of people who were born in 1940 and 1942.
