Portrayal of Spike/Spuffy in Bangel fics

Just what the title says. How do Bangel fanfics portray Spike or the Spuffy relationship (if at all)? As a Spuffy fan, I've never actually read any Bangel fics. In the Spuffy fics I've read, I've noticed different interpretations of Angel and Bangel.

For example, some common spins on Angel as a character in Spuffy fics are: Overprotective--Over controlling (doing things he believes is right for Buffy without consulting her)--A jackass in general--etc.
And some interpretations of the Bangel relationship in Spuffy fics: Just a first love--Fairytale, idealistic approach--They're two different people now and aren't right for each other anymore, because they simply don't know each other anymore--etc.

So, on the flip side, how do Bangel fics tackle the Spike and/or Spuffy issue? Feel free to comment on interpretations on other pairings and characters in a pairing-driven fic. 🙂

I am trying very very hard to think of Spuffy being addressed in Bangel fics and I am honestly coming up blank. And I have read A LOT of Bangel fic. Although that might be that I'll usually stop reading a fic if there is character bashing.

To the best of my memory I think Bangel fic generally regards Spuffy as a very difficult time for Buffy. Sometimes Spike is regarded as helping in whatever way he could and that for whatever reason Buffy needed him. In others there is more resentment for how he treated her, especially for the AR. In others Buffy and Spike are friends and share a almost camaraderie after what they went through together. Most often then not Spike just isn't a factor at all. Or he is paired with Faith, or occasionally Willow.

In fairness, it isn't a lot of fic but there is more than handful of fic that pair them together. I know a couple of specifically Spike/Willow shippers. I think a lot of it is based on S2/3/4.
