I just thought that maybe both Lilah & Darla were both The First Evil, it has personal interest in stopping Jasmine's plan, if Jasmine succeeded, his plan would have never worked.

Frankly, I saw evil in Jasmine's plan. And the First Evil resided in just about everyone, including the heroes.

When I first watched season 4 of Angel it was after watching season 7 of Buffy and I legit thought the Beast was an agent of the first when I first saw it... I was REALLY disappointed when I found out what the ACTUAL arc of season 4 was.

It certainly would have been an excellent way to link the two series, but I guess they wanted to make them stand out from each other a bit.

There's been a LOT of speculation about Darla being The First, trying to persuade Connor not to go through with Cordy's plan, and seeing that there were already two crossovers this season, Willow and Faith, it would make sense that they would try to bring the two shows together a little more.

But as sisterofmercy said, they wanted the shows to stand on their own as much as possible, especially since they were on different networks at this point, which was why they went the whole of S3 mentioning Buffy as little as possible. As far as I can remember, it took a lot of long talks to make everyone okay with having Willow and Faith crossover, I imagine crossing over the Big Bad would have just made the shows too similar and people would get mad, lol.

In addition to Lyri's post I take umbrage with those that say Darla was the first as it robs the character of another defining moment; seeing Darla again, after her sacrifice to give him life, discovering her soul, etc was the final statement in herredemption story.

Totally agree. It makes me a little sad to think that it's not really Darla and something's just using her image to get it's own way. I LOVED Darla's storyline in the shows, and to have it cut off at what would be such a defining moment for the original character, is an awful feeling.

someone using Darla's image to get its plan working doesn't undermine her sacrifice or her developed character. & its not exactly a cross-over. they've already used Angel's finale to resolve Buffy's final battle.

But in that episode, we find out that Darla achieved redemption, and went somewhere good, or at least neutral, after her death. She can never really make up for what she did, just like Spike and Angel can't, but seeing her as what could be an agent of the PTB was the end of her character arc.

To then find out thayt, nope, it's not really Darla, just something that looks like her using her to get its own way, is a huge kick in the teeth for the fans.

Similar to how if the shooshoo prophesy was actually referring to Spike. The same principle.

she already staked herself which was more than enough, but I can see your point. It was just a theory, she could be The First & she could be an Agent of the PTB.
