Potential...Who else felt bad for Dawn?

She annoys me most of the time, but I truly felt bad for Dawn in this episode. Learning that she wasn't the Potential slayer broke her heart.

This is one of my favorite eppys of the season, liked all the scenes when Buffy was tutoring the girls. Wish they would've showed how they killed that vampire on their own.

Spike and Buffy shutting them in with him was a "holy sh!t" moment for me. My favorite scene was how they showed Buffy and Dawn simultaneously fighting a vampire.

Her voice-over was a nice touch.

the final scene with Xander and Dawn was really sweet, like what he said to her.

No, I love Dawn. But I'm glad for her not being one of the potentials. I don't want to see her get hurt and risk her life. >_<

By the way, hence Chosen and every Faith-involved episodes. This is my fav of season 7. Amanda was totally awesome. I like her expression when "What the hell is going on!!??". And oh yeah, Clemmmmmm <3

It's great great episode. Good scenes, good Xander's speech, good Buffy's voiceover when Dawn was fighting that vamp in school. Except, Spuffy. Oh no, Buffy really did have feeling for him. T_T
 
I was actually glad that Dawn wasn't a potential. I felt like that was to obvious if you know what I mean. That was something I had in the back of mind ever sense Dawn came. So, when it turned out not to be true, I was actually thankful, because Whedon and Co didn't go the obvious route.

Anyways, the episode itself was great! I loved what Dawn did after she realized she wasn't a potential. She owned up to it, and that gave me a some respect for Dawn. Xander's speech was amazing! I almost started crying.

Agreed, she didn't go into instant WHINE mode.


I liked how he gave Amanda the pep talk, then promised to have her back in battle.
 
I liked this episode too. I did feel sorry for Dawn, i kinda wanted them to make her a potential, that would have been cool.
 
I didn't feel bad for her ... didn't care, really - but I did start to see "Watcher Jr" rising up in her as she matured. I much prefer Dawn as a Watcher-in-training than a potential - or esp. a slayer. She was the one that came up with the idea to get a bringer to talk - then Willow chimed in with her witchy-poo knowledge.

I don't think Dawn as a slayer would work out.
She's not as cute as Buffy 🙂
 
I felt a little bad for Dawn, but I think it would have been cheesy to have made her a Potential. I loved this episode. I love Amanda, I loved Dawn in it, and most importantly, it gave us one hellaciously awesome Dawn/Xander moment. 🙂
 
At first I was alittle happy for Dawn, because that meant she would be able fight the fight with Buffy. it would've been kinda interesting to see how that would have played out.
 
I don't know, look at Angel's opinion on being a champion, "not a prize," he said "It's not a trophy. It's a burden. It's a cross. One you're gonna have to bear till it burns you to ashes." So was it really so bad that she didn't have to carry that extra burden?
 
I thought Dawn showed how very mature and brave she had become by this point. I, like Xander was very proud of her in this episode...and I do love his 'seeing' speech. REALLY nice touch.
 
My heart broke for Dawn in this episode, she is an annoying teenager but she is always being left out and now she gets left out again because she is not a potential. But i will agree that Xanders speech in this episode is just the most heartwarming and best speech ever!
 
I think if Xander could have refrained from making that speech it would have saved him from... well, having a later injury that I will not name. (Because of course I don't acknowledge that fiction writers actually created the speech as -- in part -- foreshadowing.)
