Potentials who didn't want to be Slayers

After the potentials were activated, could those who didn't want to be slayers take the "Helpless" drug so they could be normal?

I always wondered about this after the show ended (and before the comics), that there would be potentials who didn't want it. I know it's a metaphor power, but still, within the universe they're now slayers. It's one of the downsides to the comics in my eyes, since the show ended with a beautiful metaphor whereas the comics open with a logistical nightmare 😛

That seems like a fair option in a way, but it mostly makes me wonder if it'd make them sitting ducks. Like, wouldn't some mystical force be able to tell that they are Slayers by nature and thus make them targets for big bad who'd want to kill Slayers/want Slayer blood etc. with them then being essentially helpless against evil...

My meaning is even if a chemical could take away their strenght, it wouldn't take away their Slayerhood, that has been forced upon them regardless.

At the beginning of Season 8, Buffy mentioned several hundred girls who didn't want to be Slayers, so I just assumed that they would be some sort of reserve unit or militia, not active, but subject to call if a real SHTF situation came up. Then again, there was no mention of them at the end, when Buffy and all of her allies had their final showdown with Twilight, so maybe Willow found some way to reverse her spell selectively, giving all of the newly activated Slayers the choice to either join in, or bow out. One way, or the other.
