Power of Persuasion

Power of Persuasion is written by Elizabeth Massie and is set during season 3. The story had a lot of potential; Greek feminist Goddesses trying to reinstate their power would have been a nice mix with the Buffyverse. But when the pettiness of Polly and Calli came out towards the end it made them seem silly and less villainy. I don't fell like the characters matched those in the show either, for one thing Joyce would never have gone to Synder, not after the events at the beginning of Season 3.

Has anyone else read it?

Yes I have read it. I thought it was really good until I got a little way through it and then it sort of died off...
Its not one that really stood out from the crowd (or bookcase) for me. I did enjoy it, but like you said, I didnt really believe it would have fit in with the TV series in the charater sense. Good idea though.

Pretty much the same thoughts. Good potential and the gods/demons were a really good idea and the way they gathered all the girls together rallying them crazily against men was very MOO-esque which was good but...like you guys said it had a tendency to flop; it didn't keep that high, fast beat up. And the goddesses became as petty as they were in mythology- which I guess in a way is keeping true to form, but the way Buffy killed the twin sisters just seemed waaaaay too easy. They are still goddesses after all. I think it could have gone some other places that would have upped the book a few points.
And I agree with Jules about how Joyce so wouldn't have gone to see Snyder(a.k.a the hard bigoted rodent man....) but I did find the imagary funny when Buffy rugby tackles her just as one of the gods (was it the Mother) was about to touch Joyce's shoulder. The concept of Buffy rugby tackling anyone, but particularly her Mom, just has the ability to make me laugh haha!
