from tivo programming guide:

During WWII, Angel works with the U.S. Navy to recover a German U-boat with captured American sailors on board, as well as a secret cache of vampires.

from thewb.com

Lawson (guest star Eyal Podell, "Behind Enemy Lines"), a mysterious man from Angel's (David Boreanaz) past, arrives at Wolfram & Hart and takes the gang hostage. Through flashbacks to World War II, it is revealed that Angel worked with the U.S. Navy to recover a captured German submarine with American sailors on board. The ship also has a secret cargo, a dangerous trio of vampires, including Spike (James Marsters), who were kidnapped by the Germans and forced to help the Nazis. When the sub comes under attack, Angel saves Lawson's life by turning him into a vampire. Now, sixty years later, Lawson has arrived at Wolfram & Hart seeking revenge.

Okay, aside from the vampires, this sounds like an episode of the X-Files...

I don't know about this episode, it's again only so-so.

I do like the
tie-in with the Initiative
.

I just saw a trailer for this, and I really do not know what to think.

Agreed, it is seriously strange. I'm not sure I like the WWII Angel idea. It reminded me of a campy episode from some other show. I mean what's the point. They have so many unresolved storylines. The last two episodes were great. I wish that the writers would quit giving us stand alones and get on with the season.

Why exactly are they doing this? And how are they going to explain why Dru isn't with Spike (unless she too is working for the Nazis)? And I'd just like to say that I heartily dislike watching episodes where Spike's hair is not platinum. Call me shallow. 🙂

One more thing, we've seen lots of flashbacks where Angel is coping with his soul (Why We Fight, Are You Now...); how does he get to the 1996 scenes where he is living off rats, and Whistler has to tell him he can buy blood at the butcher? I don't get it. ???

Well, saw the trailer. Personally, I dont think I'm gonna like the episode too much. But I really don't know what to think of it.We'll have to wait and see.

Ok I am trying to keep an open mind about this ep, but it looks pretty corny. I mean spike looked like something out of Indian Jones, and Angel looked like, well don't kill me people, but he looked like Riley, lol.. I hope this episode surprises me, but I'm not holding my breath..

I'm not looking forward to it...
And I agree...I thought he was supposed to be all tortured and didn't get the idea of helping people until Whistler showed up...bad...bad continuity...Also...I thought Spike didn't meet the Souled Angel until "School Hard" in BTVS s2.3?
I'd like to keep an open mind about it...but it reminds me too much of Marvel comics throwing Wolverine into WWII with Captain America...the cheese factor abounds...
All I have to say is this...the ep better have some relevance and contribute something to the season arc...or else...it's just some stupid ploy to get the attention of vetrans and submarine fans...but that's just my opinion...
Like I said...this had better hold some relevance to the present and/or future...most other flashback eps have...I hope this one doesn't fall short..

One thing I could possbily see...mostly from the title of the ep...is that it is another step in getting Angel back on the right track(like Cordy wasn't enough incentive for him to get his arse back on the moral high road)....

I've seen the trailer now. That was kind of lame. To say that Angel saved us all in the war, and that Spike was a nazi. I don't think it was such a smart move, but we'll see.

Once Again, Angel-Good Guy, Spike-Bad Guy...or are they!? I don't think this episode looks to interesting, and Why couldn't Spike just kill the Nazis?

Because he was evil then I guess...

Anyway...I'm wondering if there's a double meaning in the title - like something in it is going to explain why Angel and Spike fight (even more than they have already).

Ok, not to be 'no diving'-style shallow, but I think the only good thing I see about next week's ep is the fact that they haven't made Amy Acker wear something heinous. 'Bout time.

i definitely dont like spike being a nazi cause i hate that whole deal with them so im not lookin to forward to this ep but spike looks hot with his hair

Nazi's and Hitler, WWII, and anything about it, makes me very angry, so I'm getting the feeling there will be much destruction, yelling, and throwing of objects while I watch this episode........be prepared for a rant from me afterward...ok think positive...."It's gonna be a good episode, I will like it"....: ::change:: ...ok, thinking this positive thinking thing is not working.... ::nono::
