Well I for one am stoked there is a new ep next week. I thought we were gonna have to wait until January.

Please speculation only....

From the previews,

Giles is back! I love Giles. He is such an important character. Kind of like the foundation.

Slayers-in-training.... looks like many of you were right about those random girls. I have some questions about this though.. if they are 'in-training' do they have slayer strength? Why train so many if there is only 1 slayer, "the one girl in all the world w/ the strength and skill... etc".... (even though technically now there are 2). Lastly, why is there only 1 slayer? how can she possibly hope to tackle on all the evil that is certainly spread all over the world. There is massive evil just next door in LA... there must certainly be lots of evil in Siberia? haha....

Well must get to bed and do 'some' studying. I promise... not too much.

Cheers!

I have a few speculations.

It will be the week before Christmas. I expect Christmas references a la Amends. If so it will be interesting that the two Buffy episodes with mentions of Christmas both involve the First Evil. (Did you ever notice you can re-arrange the letters in Santa to say Satan)

The strongest sub-theme in Season 7 so far has involved the evolution of Spike as a souled being. I expect him to continue to learn how to deal with his demons.

There was a strong hint in Never Leave Me about the true hidden nature of Principal Wood. I'm hoping they go into that more. I'm crossing my fingers for sparks between Wood and Buffy.

I expect a gigantic cliffhanger. It will be 2 weeks after this episode until the next episode. They'll want to keep us interested.

Hmm....Did anyone read all "The Pretty Maids in a Row?" That dealt also with Slayers-in-training...I am going to take a guess that they have some strength, but until they are imbued with the power of the Slayer when the previous one dies, I don't think so...

You know what--Joss should write a Slayer Handbook.

There's a couple other things I'm hoping to see, if not in this upcoming episode then soon.

The like-hate relationship between Xander and Spike seems to be changing. On the face of it Xander has always seemed to hate Spike, yet you always get the feeling he kind of enjoys the interplay with the vampire.

Do you remember in Triangle when the two bump into each other (literally) in the Bronze before the appearance of Olaf the troll. Xander is telling Spike to go away, yet at the same time he seems to be almost encouraging him to stick around and spar.

By the time of the episode Him they almost seem to be chums, then in Never Leave Me he doesn't seem to like the idea of snuffing Spike.

I'm hoping to see where they're going with that.

Another thing I'm looking forward to is the reappearance of Giles. It seems to be developing into a tradition that whenever Giles comes back, ASH and SMG do a scene together where Giles explains things to Buffy. I love those scenes.

The two actors have them down pat; especially SMG. She does this thing where Giles is talking and she's looking up at him like she's hanging on his every word. She's like a little girl who's been taken by her father to the zoo, and he's telling her about the monkeys. I'm hoping to see one of those Buffy-Giles scenes.

And if I hadn't randomly taken a look in the TV guide, I wouldn't have KNOWN! and I probably wouldn't have checked this site either, since I wasn't expecting anything until January! Whew!

I also think it'll be an amends-oriented thing. Though it'd be TOTALLY cool if Angel came back for the ep. (which is obviously NOT happening, unless, because Cordy hurt him so much, he needs a little Buffy tender loving care.)

We are suppose to think that the "first evil" morph into Giles.
But I belive there are ways to tell , even if he doesn't touch anything. 😱

- his reaction to Buffy getting hurt.

do he show any emotions?

-he works with Anya.

do she gets on his nerves? she usually do.

Why would the first evil want to protect the "sit"? or is he really just after Buffy?

I hope the first evil is not pretending to be Giles, that would mean that Giles is dead. They wouldn't do that. would they😕

I think pricipal wood could be one of the Knights of Byzantium, they wanted the Dawn also. if you notice the spirit in Lesson were after Dawn. and principal wood looked like he was heading in the same direction buffy was going when he saw Buffy , (who was heading to the ladies room to go to the basement) the floor to the basement did not open up until Dawn walk out of the stall.

The knights are not evil, they just do what they have to do.

The knights are not evil, they just do what they have to do.

Hell yeah, we would have been better off it the Knights would have just killed Dawn.

I think it is a possibilty that Wood is of some kind of order, as it was actually the first thing that crossed my mind.

I hope the first evil is not pretending to be Giles, that would mean that Giles is dead. They wouldn't do that. would they ???

Still not sure wether that is really a rule, or something we need to beleive is a rule!

in this episode, it is finally confirmed that the first evil can only impersonate the dead.
and xander makes a reference to signs.

really though, if i hadn't read any spoilers, i doubt that i would even think that giles could actually be the first.. i would just think it was strange that we didn't see anyone hug him like every other time he came back

DAMN! I just realized that I will be taking a final during buffy! this is dreadful! thank the gods for VHS.

Oh no! i soo hope that Giles is not dead. Of course he did look pretty doomed w/ that axe flying right at his head. From the previews i just assumed he knew he had to return to help buffy and the gang, i didnt even think that it could just be the FE impersonating him. that would just like the last straw. its bad enough that giles had to leave... don't kill him off! i'd miss how he constantly takes his glasses on and off... plus, i really think the gang needs his brains to 'defeat' the FE.

i was all aboard the 'kill dawn' bandwagon last season... but since they finally gave her something to work with... she has become a much better character, imo. i never thought MT was a bad actress (actually i think she is quite good...), but her character did nothing but whine and irritate me. it looks like they are prepping her to be the next 'buffy'... which i hope is not true. she's not buffy... give her something different. besides there are apparently many other SITs around to take her place. wonder how they decide who gets to be the next slayer... (a giant reality-TV competition?) and another question.... was buffy ever a slayer in training? ie training before she was the slayer.

i dont know what to think about principle wood. after burying the body, he's definitely got some connection.... but i wonder if he's not just under the spell of the FE. he IS right on top of the hellmouth 8+ hours a day. thats gotta do things to the man! 🙂

back to studying.. damn finals!

Aaack!! Haven't seen it.
Are you saying that the first is impersonating Giles??

I saw the wildfeed of the episode a bit earlier.

Kinda big spoilers in spoiler.

We never see Giles touch anyone or anything, he doesnt touch Buffy, he doesnt touch anybody, or lift any objects. Which leads me to conclude that during the circumstances when he didnt this might be the first. Not even after Buffy had fought the ubervamp in the underground cave from Amends and she tries to climb up does he help, not even after she had been fighting it in the factory and got beaten half to death with severe internal bleedings. AND he never even told them he was attacked! So well, we'll see

OMG! That would be horrible if the one person they rely on for guidance, etc. is actually dead and the "first" transforms into him... Wow this season is the wildest roller coaster ever... twist and turns EVERYWHERE! I LOVE IT!!!!

Yes, that's what I'm wondering, since I've heard that the First is in the form of Drusilla in this episode? So unless it keeps jumping from Giles to Drusilla.. or unless it can take two forms at once, then let's hope Giles isn't dead!

In Convos with Dead People if the First can't be two people at once then that means Joyce was real and so was Holden.

So in this epp the same problem arises I guess.. we'll just have to wait and see.
