Prefect Q and A

I thought as there is prefect elections going on I would do a Q and A, so that any potential prefects could ask questions about the position and what they are expected to do.

As Prefects you are responsible for doing the following:


1. Helping to keep the dorm active.

2. Providing house news/content for the Newsletter.

3. Ensure that board rules and followed in the dorm.

4. Contributing to the creation, organisation and running of house activities.

It would be great if other current or former prefect could contribution and tell their stories of what it was like to be their dorms prefect

Question for any, and all, past and present prefects: What was the hardest thing you faced and how did you get through it? 🙂

I think the hardest thing is getting people involved in your ideas, I guess it depends on the idea to how you go about overcoming that.

When I was prefect of VH, the hardest thing was coming up with something new and fun to do each month. At the time I was prefect, I was very lucky in that Vahla Ha'Nesh was VERY active and we had a ton of members who were willing to participate in house events and contests. I was blessed, and I thank my lucky stars for that. It was always hard for me to think of ways to keep the dorm fun by coming up with fresh ideas and themes. I always asked for input from the members though, which is a great idea when you're a prefect; you don't want to try to do everything by yourself. 🙂
