Premiership Title Race

Today Newcastle United appionted Kevin Keegan as their Manager...for the second time! Anybody else think this is a train wreck waiting to happen? Sure Keegan nearly led them to the title 12 years ago but nearly is the operative word here. I mean what has Keegan done as a manager? Newcastle is like a neutrals fav team so I hope they do well especially for the fans but I don't see this ending Happily ever after.

I would LOVE IT if they did well!!...sorry i couldn't resist

Everyone was pretty much mentioned but like Keegan Hughes hasn't exactly done wonders. Personally I think there is something fundamently wrong at Newcastle. Ferguson described it as 'unmanagable'. Certainly appears so.

my vote was for Shearer. i wanted him for the England job, too, but apparently, no one listens to me. instead, we're stuck with some Italian who can't even speak English! anyway...

not sure about giving Keegan the job back. Newcastle seems to be under some kind of curse...they can't keep managers, and all their players seem to get injure A LOT. Owen, anyone?

Duff anyone?

Take it from me the last person you want managing your country is someon without experience and Alan Shearer is that person. He hasn't even managed an under-age side. Ireland appionted Staunton and well we all know how that ended don't we! Capello is a proven manager although I'm still not sure if he will work.

i think it's just the fact that they gave someone who can't speak English the job as England manager. maybe Capello will prove himself to be a good manager and we can get back into the game, as it were.

unless of course, Northern Ireland manage to pick themselves up first! Healy!!

To be honest I find England hard to figure out. They pretty much have a couple of top class players in each position and yet they still manage to suck beyond the telling of it, and what makes it even more confusing is that so many of the players play with each other on a weekly basis...they strike me as a squad with an unhappy dressingroom

Agreed.

Also agree on Alan Shearer not being ready for England. I MIGHT have said, let him be caretaker manager of Newcastle and see what he does with it. I think teams are probably hesitant after the Gareth Southgate thing...though I really really want him to do well.

Capello is a great manager, and at least JT, Lamps, Becks and I'm sure others who I am forgetting right now have worked under Italian managers before. It'll be a change of focus, which hopefulyl will kick them back on track. Because like you said they've no reason to be horrible, yet they are.

🙂

My only concern about Capello is that his teams tend to play 'ugly football' and England have real flair that I think is being left untapped. As well as that they need to pick a system and stick to it, for the last few years it pretty much has been musical team. The midfield has to be sorted too.
