Presidential debate

I was really hoping that someone would have started this thread.

I think the debate gave viewers a good perspective of the candidate's personal values, but the topics discussed were pretty exhausted and dry. We've heard them talk about Iraq in basically every speech and this information was nothing new.

But as for winner for this debate, I would have to say President Bush. And that's just not the inner-conservative speaking out, that's just my unbiased analysis. I mean at one particular time Kerry criticizes Bush on not being aligned with other nations enough, but then he wants bilateral talks? Kerry is so the captain of mixed messages. I bet he would love the shoes I'm wearing, flip flops.

Bush seems resolute and I believe he responds well to the common man. Even though they are both from wealthy New England families and related (Second Cousins, 9 times Removed. I believe.), Bush is much more likable. But that's not how someone should entirely base their vote on.

If I could vote, which I will be able to as of February of next year, I would vote for Bush. Though I loathe his environmental policies, I just think he would be a better choice for national security and the promotion of a free world.

I didn't know Kerry's full policy regarding several things. Now I'm not sure if he's better than Bush. Obviously he doesn't plan to stop the Iraq thing, but that we already knew. I'm not so sure know what's worse. Bush's intention to bomb the hell out of Iran and serve as Israel's puppet or Kerry's apparent inner wish for Cold War v.2.

What the hell was all that Russia talk? Is he just completely out of his mind? Putin has "I'm a soviet, I want my USSR back" tattooed on his forehead and Kerry starts babbling about "I'll disarm them in 4 years". That's just plain stupid and unnecessary. It gives Putin the necessary ammo to convince the people of his ideas. Impressed and astouned by those comments. And his whole North Korea thing, doesn't he realize the US paid for their nuclear reactors? It's not like they let them have them. They made them for them. Oh well.

I loved how regarding Iraq, Iran, Russia and North Korea, all nuclear powers, all worth something whether in oil or nuclear businesses, both candidates had aggressive policies. Intervention, soldiers and what not. But with Sudan, which is worse than Iraq under Saddam, which is suffering massacres and whose people actually need some liberating, both agree on not sending troops. Would it have to do with Sudan having nothing to offer? Pfff.

Democracy is the biggest fallacy in the history of the world.
 
I missed the debate cause I was alseep.. I meant to see it though, forgot.. But I'm quite sure I would've been really irritated by both of them and realize again that none of them are better than the other.. (But if I could vote I would vote for Kerry..)
 
I'm not sure Bush's the right person to promote a free world. Cause if how he is running the US is his picture of a free world, then either someone outta change that picture or I'm out of here. Cause that's not what I call rocking in a free world.
Unless scaming your way through an election, taking away money from organisations helping "the poor" and investing it in war killing thousands of people is what rocking in a free world should be. Then I don't want a free world.
But then again, that Kerry guy ain't much of a choice really. But if I could vote, I'd vote for Kerry too.
 
The dabate laste night, i'm watching it now, it's almost finished.. Bush has so many bad point of views, i just CAN'T agree with him.... and he can't even admit to any mistakes.. only those he can't mntion.. and he wants to change the reason he went to war on Ira.. and ARRRG ARRRRRRRRRRRG... GREEEEE.... i can't talk about him, it's just, well upsetting.. (LOL back away from copmuter, :demon: )

Well, I'm from Canada but I'm gonna comment anyway. Here I am a conservative, however I cannot agree with many of Bush's policies. In terms of the debate I think that Kerry was victorious, not because I don't support Bush, rather because he seemed to avoid Kerry's questions and change the subject (very subtly I might add). I much prefer someone who answer questions directly.
 
beer_nut: i noticed taht too, that Bush avoided alot of kerrys questions.. and some of those questions were, well i think it makes bush look a bit bad when he doesn't answer some of the things he was asked... or confronted with... i don't like bush, i don't like his politics, and i'm not sure how i feel about kerry, but i guess he is better in my mind, then bush...and i'm not american so this election thosen't have anything direct to do with me, and my country menn, but still it does, cause of the am. govs postion in the world....(and destions like war on terror...) (BTW i don't mean to offend any americans, with my anything, i just think sertain events in politics sorta affect the whole world and it's important to stay inolved and up dated 😉)
 
Funny thing...I didn't catch any of the Presidential debates but I did catch the VP debates. John Edwards just seems like a nice, "regular" guy whereas Cheney is a sniveling weasel. I did a paper on him last year for my ethics class on his dealings with Halliburton and after that I can honestly say I have no respect for the man who is just one brain cell away from becoming president (usually it's heartbeat, but I tend to think GW will go from lack of brain cells working in that thick skull than his heart stopping).

The above is offensive to weasels...snivelling or otherwise😉

Cheney seems to be a genuinely nasty man from what I read and watch...his business deals seem to be less than ethical given his position and I think I've disagreed with most of his quoted opinions...is he one of Bush's main puppeteers? The real power behind the throne?
 
Just a point about Kerry's above mentioned policy on Iraq: Whether or not Kerry agreed with the war and the way Bush went about putting us in it, from what I understand (and I'm no expert on politics so I may be wrong) things are far too mussed up in that country to pull out now without handing the nation over to our true enemies (not Saddham Hussein-although he's no prize) the terrorist organizations and uprisers. We'd just be encouraging them to go after us in retaliation. Kerry may not have wanted a war in Iraq, but now he has no choice but to fix what our fine President mucked up against most of the worlds will.
 
OMG Kerry smiled! He does have emotions! Who knew?

I feel a little sorry for Cheney's daughter, though. To have her personal lifestyle choices broadcast all over the country on several occations... I just feel so bad.

Overall, with the possible exception of the mics fading in and out occationally, I though it was a good debate, no clear winner, but each got to get his point across clearly, or as clearly as most politicians are able. Didn't change my personal oppinions, but then, nothing short of a massive revelation really could at this point.
 
I have missed all debates but I just got to see the ne that was last night (day, I guess).. And I liked to watch it, didn't think it was gonna be so easy to understand everything, thought there was going to be a lot more complicated subjects. Great that everyone can understand, guess that's the whole point.. Anyway I started liking Kerry more, and disliking Bush more.. Though I don't like any of them. I think it's really weird that they can even discuss a thing like abortion.. Just seems like: war, economics, health care, education.. and abortion? (And of course the question about gay marriage.. lol.)
I think it would be interesting to have someone not that conservetive debating with the two of them, as a contrast.. to both of them.
 
Seems to me that there either Conservative, or not quite liberal...I'd like a REAL liberal every now and then to really shake things up. It would be entertaining to see the conservatives go scrambling 😉
