Ever heard of the phrase, “You should eat your makeup so you can be pretty on the inside too”? Neutrogena might have an even better option: personalized skincare gummies. The beauty brand is working with customized supplement company Nourished to bring ‘SkinStacks’, edible 3D-printed products with layers that address unique skin concerns.

The gummies, presented at CES 2023, are vegan and sugar-free, with each of their seven layers dedicated to helping its eater achieve their skin goals—from retaining their skin’s youth to giving it clarity, hydration, resilience, and a glow. Each gummy holds a distinct cocktail of nutrients ranging from vitamins A through D, to zinc, coenzyme Q10, and riboflavin. To personalize your nutrient stack, you’ll first need to take a 180° selfie with Neutrogena’s Skin360 mobile app, powered by artificial intelligence to assess your skin.

Your skin profile is then sent to Nourished, which 3D-prints your edible rainbow. Neutrogena and Nourished are truly biting off as much as you can chew; with 3D-printing, the gummies are naturally zero-waste as the facility only manufactures exactly what the data says you need. Melissa Snover, chief executive officer and founder of Nourished, tells WWD that since launching in 2020, the startup has never discarded anything—“not even a raw material.”

The 100% custom SkinStacks are then delivered within 14 days in plastic-free packaging. It costs US$49.99 for a supply that will last you 28 days. Snover says the word “personalization” gets thrown around a lot, “but very few people are actually doing it.” With Neutrogena’s proprietary skin-scanning technology, coupled with 3D printers, customers can have skincare that’s tailored to a T.

Neutrogena says SkinStacks will help direct how it approaches ingestibles, and that it will keep experimenting to give consumers a more holistic experience.

Never heard that phrase, you should eat your make up so you can be pretty on the inside to.
How much make did you use to have?

I don't care what they hold - if they're not shaped like a bear and/or made by Haribo then they're not "gummies". Those are common-or-garden pastilles. THESE are Gummies.

I was tempted to say you can't beat the good old Gummies, but are they old Gummies or young Gummires? I prefer to think they are young Gummies!

I love gummies, it's the only candy for me
They're not gummies; they're rainbow fruit pastilles.

And also basically they're just chew-able vitamins, which isn't a new thing. This is just a new gimmick.

Pretty cool! They look cute. I wouldn't spend that money for them, I think, unless I was pretty darn convinced by the results. But all in all, if you can and want to add that to your skin care routine, go for it.

Same. So many fashion and beauty objects are horribly overpriced and just make me say “yeah thanks but I’ll stay uggo for free 👍”

Yeah, I just go for budget stuff, even if the gold-infused, ritually sacrifice blood enriched, $200 cream would give me the skin of an infant ;)
