Pretty posh name

I had a really random though this morning, that I hadn't thought of before, Xander has a pretty posh name.

Alexander LeVelle Harris

I've created an elaborate backstory that his parents were very well to do, lost everything, grew to dislike each other and ended up how they did.

Doesn't he have well off cousins, maybe family money?
Think there's any story to it?

Names don't cost anything. There may have been a family name to account for LaVelle and Xander is short for Alexander, but I agree it is a nice name that a lead guitarist in a rock band would like.

There may be a backstory here but from the dramatist's point of view, is it worth going into? Xander is one person in the story who has no powers and limited maturity, but still manages to be in the right place at the right time and sometimes do something essential for the continuance of the story. He is the first "civilian" to recognize the slayer. He resuscitates Buffy after her first death. He is a lifelong friend of Willow. He keeps the school from being blown up.

He is definitely a product of his upbringing but family money is one of those elusive things - there is no sign that he is in line to inherit nor does any relative seem to be attached to him, so sudden inheritance is a long shot.

I always just figured Xander's middle name was his mom's maiden name. 😉

I never saw it as a posh name lol - I actually thought the Levelle sounded...the opposite of posh whatever that is lol

What sounds posh to British and Irish ears may not be as posh to, say, French or American deep South ears...y'all 🙂

Haha seriously Lavelle makes me think of a...gun toting dude from the ozarks. Buuut maybe that's just me.
