Looks like it's El Draco who visits Buffy's place while she's about to meet Severin.

I'm pretty sure Tumble isn't gonna die this soon. That if he's going to die at all. Buffy didn't tidy her room after the party. So messy, just like my sister's.

Oooh, isn't that a hot Spike in panel two? Yummy.

LOL check out the vamp rocking the Mike Tyson tattoo. Also, who is that picture of in Buffy's room? It's kinda inappropriately huge...even if it is Dawn.

Ha! I thought the same thing about the picture in her room.
He looks like a Spike-Oz hybrid to me.

Maybe he is Spike and Oz' love child? 🙂))

Review "“ Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9 #2 Freefall Part 2

Still struggling with her place in the world, we continue following Buffy as she searches on.

Script: Andrew Chambliss
Pencils: Georges Jeanty
Inks: Dexter Vines
Colors: Michelle Madsen
Letters: Richard Starkings & Comicraft's Jimmy Betancourt
Cover: Steve Morris
Alternate Cover: Georges Jeanty
Executive Producer: Joss Whedon
Published By: Dark Horse Comics

A quick recap of Freefall Part 1, we find Buffy attempting to start a new life in San Fransisco as she tries to find and understand her place in the world. Buffy is also battling some of her fiercest enemies yet, bill collectors! Most importantly though, she is struggling with the destruction of the seed and the repercussions that it is having on the world and her friends. In issue #2 Georges Jeanty's artwork is superb and captures the nuances of the characters in a remarkable way. His work really helps to put the final touches on the emotions that Buffy and the Scoobies are feeling.

In Freefall Part 2 we find Buffy still struggling with her place in the world and what she wants to do with her life. Still seeing the ramifications from the lack of magic in the world, she is still doing her best to not deal with it. Buffy is at a crossroads wishing that she could just be normal and not have to be the defender of the world. This time though she not only has to deal with demony types trying to get her, she now has regular old humans after her too.

We have appearances by the whole crew and have Spike doing what he does best, being sarcastic and, above all, having Buffy's back. We also see Xander and Dawn being kind of thoughtless and downright jerky to Buffy, especially considering that they would be dead many times over if not for her. I really hope this entire Xander and Dawn dating storyline wraps up soon, I for one am not a fan of it! Finally, we are left with a very interesting, can't wait to see what happens, "twist"(hint, hint). Depending on how this new storyline plays out it could be really different and awesome. I would definitely recommend reading this comic, it is moving the storyline along nicely and is a must read, I already can't wait for the next one.

Oh, god. Spike "has Buffy's back" while Xander and Dawn are downright jerks to her. My time machine is finally working. It's eight years ago! [/Chandler Bing voice].

Dark Horse Advance Reviews: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 9 #2 & Tom Morello's Orchid #1

Today we've got two advance, spoiler free reviews of Dark Horse comics for you! But you know, some light spoilers anyway. So be careful, friends.

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON 9 #2

I'm not going to recap everything I said in my review of the last issue of Buffy Season 9, but here's the gist: after an increasingly convoluted Season 8, Joss Whedon and team used issue one to bring things back to basics, ending with a laugh out loud funny page that very clearly grounded this new series in reality. Well, sure, a reality where super strong girls fight the undead, and demons demand payment for student loans, but reality nonetheless.

Luckily, this second issue is even more grounded. Where Whedon went for a time jumping structure through issue one, Andrew Chambliss "“ a writer on Dollhouse, among other TV shows "“ takes the writing chores on issue two, and with one exception makes things even simpler.

No spoilers, but this issue picks up where we left off, clarifying the last page, and then mixing in a few of the subplots from issue one. The most surprising thing about this series right now? Due to the events from the last series "“ and particular the actions of one vampire named Harmony, the world is drastically different. Not just from the elimination of most magic when Buffy destroyed The Seed last "season," but because the world at large knows what vampires are, and what slayers are.

That's a pretty weird development, and even more strangely, it was dealt with as a side-plot last year. That said, now that its in the mix, it makes Buffy's life even more complicated than it was before, as she ends up embroiled with the law for all the wrong reasons. Plus, as usual for the start of a Buffy season, her friends are off doing their own things"¦ Until they all, inevitably get back together to face the Big Bad at the end.

What that Big Bad is for Season 9 isn't quite clear yet, but there's a rather big development with a new character introduced at the end that once again will drastically overturn the world of Buffy and company. That said, unlike the casually thrown out, "Oh, vampires are real, FYI," this new development seems like it will have at least ramifications for the arc, if not the whole season.

The only thing missing from this issue? The cracking sense of humor in the last issue. Chambliss keeps things moving, and has a light, easy touch with comic writing, but its just not as laugh out loud funny as we usually want Buffy to be. Granted, this may be because issue two is so packed with plot, but I hope we get a little more hilarity in issue three.

In summation? Buffy continues to be back to basics, fun, creative, and thankfully now a title I'm going to be looking forward to reading month after month. Five by five, people. Five by five.

Buffy didn't tidy her room after the party. So messy, just like my sister's.

Buffy's room might not be immaculate, but at least she hauled out a couple of wheelbarrow loads of cups, bottles, cans, and assorted trash. You can't do it all at once. Give the girl two or three more issues, and her room will be as "comfy" as Spike's crypt ever was.

Sigh.

When is Buffy going to stop wishing was was "normal"? She gave up normal years ago. She's been the Slayer for 11 years. There gets to a point where she just needs to accept it, and I thought she had...talk about regression.

Question, does anyone think Buffy still really thinks that some day she could give up slaying and lead a "normal" life?

Kean agrees: Pretty much since Welcome to the Hellmouth.

I meant in S9. 😀 She seems less thrilled in a world without magic and pretty much unsure what to do with her life now that she can have a normal life.

I see Buffy as actively trying to "fit" herself into this mold of what she preceives as normal for a young woman her age; single girl in the big city, roomates, typical job, and she's back in school, right? Sure, she's slaying, but with no vgreater purpose. And she said once before, the vampires will just keep coming. Also, her behavior at the party sc,reamed trying too hard to me.

She was obviously trying too hard to be happy at the party, but I don't think she's upset about the possibility of having a normal life. She's upset for a lot of things: betraying everybody by sleeping with Angel, destroying the seed, having Willow and the rest of Slayers angry with her, the whole thing with Spike, being rejected by Xander... etc.

Did they mention that Buffy is back in college? I don't recall them saying so.

People complain and say they are getting bored with Angel seeking redemption. But, Buffy has been wanting to be normal for 8 full seasons now...i'm getting sick of Buffy wanting to be normal, she needs to accept she never will be and punch something in the face
