Spoiler! Preview Pages for Issue #37

Wow that was amazing, loved the interaction between Buffy and Spike, totally think Dawn's gonna die now all because of her and Xanders talk, and WTF has happened to willow.

I have a feeling that Willow has just been yanked into some other reality/dimension/world thingy.

I didn't watch Lost but from what I've gathered online, they apparently used a "First" like character in their last season?

Can anyone confirm that?

The Man in Black could appear as anyone that died but he was in all six seasons. In the last season actually, he only took the form of the character
Locke
.

I think the character you're thinking of is the mysterious smoke monster that terrorised the Losties throughtout the series.

It was revealed that the smoke monster was actually the manifestation of a man who could assume the form of any dead person - which explained some of the 'ghosts' seen thoughout the series. He eventually assumed the form of Locke during the final series.

If you ask me it was lame and one of the biggest cop-outs in TV history. Bah.

But as for the 'seed protecter', I just assumed they were referring to The Master. No?

I disagree with what you said about lost! But as for the protector, why would The Master help out??

Yeah that was the thing I read about.

I assumed the protector was The Master too, but that makes little to no sense either. Although wasn't he essentially the "cork"? He got wedged between worlds and the Harvest was supposed to get him out. It also begs the question of why The Master would protect the seed? Or was he charged with the protection of it? Also, how is he able to do any of this when Buffy ground his bones to make her bread.

Perhaps all the Lost nods are because with every issue that comes out all we get is more questions rather than answers!

LOMA that's what I was thinking! dumbasses think alike :P
What's all this hubbub about Angel flying? He has being doing it for issues and issues now. Why is it suddenly weird?

Well I don't know about everyone else but I've had a problem with Angel and Buffy flying from the moment they could. I think the whole Twilight/Angel story arc is dumb. But I'm trying to wait and see it all explained.

The whole Twilight plot feels like Lost. I loved the show but it was confusing as hell.
The cork,a protector,Oceanic Airplane and a bottle of wine. I appreciate some hints to another franchise but this is just plain silly. The old creepy guy is probably Jacob...

When i read the 36th issue and saw the Oceanic Airplane i thought for one second. Damn Joss made a crossover with Lost and at the end of the season Jack awakes in a cornfield on an island. Next to him Buffy,Spike,Angel and all scoobies telling him there is no place called Sunnydale and demons don´t exist.

Everything was just a dream...everything was just a dream...

I really like the bugs and the Spuffy interaction but please take away Angels and Buffys superjuice it´s freakin ridicilous and reminds me to much of a superhero from a planet called Krypton.

Dawn and Xander as a happy couple making plans for their future is nice but we all know what´s going to happen next.Am i the only one who has a bad feeling about Xander surviving this season? One thing is for sure Xanders death would be more devastating for me then hers.

Willow is either having a vision like Cordy or she turns into dark Willow. Can´t tell for sure. 🙂

Lol @ the Lost comments. I love Lost, but I wish it would stay away from Buffy.
Spike "It's the key."

Buffy "Like Dawn's the key?"

Oh, yeah, Dawn is gone. Get out the butter, folks, cause this little girl is toast.

Spike "...decided to shag the universe into existence."

Buffy "That wasn't our fault."

Yeah, just like "There were no tongues involved." If Buffy is so crazy about Angel, why does she feel the necessity to keep telling Spike that what really happened, didn't happen? And the universe didn't set THEM up, Angel set HER up. Buffy can stay in denial all that she wants to for now, but at some point within the next four issues, she is going to have to come to grips with the fact that, unlike Spike when he killed the people in Season 7, Angel did everything this season OF HIS OWN FREE WILL. He might have been coerced, cajoled, or conned into doing it, but he knew exactly what he was doing every step of the way, and that includes all of the super violent sex with Buffy that created this apparently malevolent universe they're now having to deal with.

Here's my prediction for the season finale: The dimensional portal will have to be closed, and Dawn, being the Key, will have to do it. In order to get to the right place and/or keep the demons away until she can do her key trick, however, someone will have to deliver and protect her. Someone broodie with a low forehead and a very desperate need to redeem himself for nearly destroying the universe as we know it. Someone named Angel.

Season 9 will be all about retrieving the two of them, while Buffy's cookies grow stale and crumble to dust.

Anybody wanta bet?

Listen WA, you recently said (at least I think it was you, slap some sense into me if it wasn't) that you didn't think nor did you want the Spuffy vs Bangel question to be answered. Now maybe it wasn't you, or maybe I'm misphrasing you, but I personally agree with that sentiment, not your cookies statement. Of course, this could just be my own conscious subconscious statement of my own beliefs! As long as the Buffyverse exists, may Buffy never choose either vampire, and may the snarkiness, innuendo, angst, and outright shagging never end!

OMG, you did NOT just say that, did you? Great, now I've got that thought stuck in my head.🙁

The cookie thing was more or less a joke, but I do in fact believe that the cookie metaphor will never actually be resolved, at least not until and unless the series it totally and permanently ended.
Yeah, just like "There were no tongues involved.

Actually, tongues were very much involved. (sw)

If Buffy is so crazy about Angel, why does she feel the necessity to keep telling Spike that what really happened, didn't happen? And the universe didn't set THEM up, Angel set HER up.

No, the Universe set THEM up. Spike just told them that much,

"From the moment the seed was planted, Twilight was an inevitability."

We have also been told that Buffy and Angel were the only two people who could bring that about.

They were very much set up!

What I want to know is how Spike knows all of this stuff. He is being awful coy with how he got his info.

Maybe magic is the only thing keeping the Master alive? Last time we saw he was dead good and proper and the only way we've seen to bring back a vampire makes them human again. If magic is the juice that keeps him running I'd doubt he would want the seed to be destroyed. I remember reading somewhere that Buffy would team up with an old villian and he's right there y'know. Or Future Dark Willow who really only runs of magic is getting yanked out and trading dimensions or something with our real Willow, so she can help the gang and protect the seed.

Ugh! Why do they want us to go crazy!? So many questions!

Although wasn't he essentially the "cork"? He got wedged between worlds and the Harvest was supposed to get him out.
No, the old Spanish church was the cork, he was just trapped in the cork, if you recall. But yes, the Harvest, which took place at the Bronze, was to free him. How could he if he was ground to dust? Maybe the same way Obi Wan hung around Luke after he was cut down.

Un contraire mon frére...

Giles: This is what we know. Some sixty years ago, a very old, very powerful vampire came to this shore, not just to feed.

Buffy: He came 'cause this town's a mystical who's it.

Giles: Yes. The Spanish who first settled here called it 'Boca del Infierno'. Roughly translated, 'Hellmouth'. It's a sort of, um, portal between this reality and the next. This vampire hopes to open it.

Buffy: Bring the demons back.

Xander: End of the world.

Willow: But he blew it! Or, I mean, there was an earthquake that swallowed half the town, and him, too.

Giles: You see, opening dimensional portals is a tricky business. Odds are he got himself stuck, rather like a, uh, cork in a bottle.

Xander: And this Harvest thing is to get him out.

Of course there were tongues involved. My point was, why would Buffy feel that she had to deny such an obvious fact. "Yes, Spike, there were tongues involved. I KISSED the guy. That's how grownups who are lovers kiss," would have been the right answer. I just never understood even then, why Buffy told Spike such a lie.

And as for the setting up, I still say, the Universe set Angel up, and Angel set Buffy up. Granted, the whole thing was the Universe's (so far) ultimate goal, but it was Angel who actually pulled Buffy into the scheme, with free will and full knowledge, exactly the way that he murdered all of those people and attempted to destroy the everything. He wasn't under any sort of thrall or trigger, and he wasn't Angelus. If the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, then Angel is well on the way to building himself a superhighway.

And as for how Spike knows everything that he knows, I have the distinct suspicion that we won't know the full details of that until after his 8 issue miniseries at IDW ends.

Yes, I completely agree.

And apologies to Tranquility, for attributing your quote to WA.

And do we see this as majorly out of character for him? Hmm, there's just so much we don't know yet.

Of course it is a possibility, when the choices that are being made are so morally ambiguous, it couldn't not be an option.

Angel was as unaware of the ultimate results of their coupling as Buffy was. He believed they would create a new reality, he didn't know it would wipe out the old. As well as this he was operating under the knowledge that the world was going to go to Hell in a hand basket anyway. Whatever reality he was spit out of when he met the dog was clearly a disaster zone. He was working off the Intel the PTB's gave him. The morality of that choice can only really be weighed if we know how bad his reality was. Maybe everyone else died there? Maybe demons run the place. Is that a better option?

It's the basic few for the sake of the many question. It's utterly impossible to answer, especially since nobody has been able to produce an alternative.

If the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, then Angel is well on the way to building himself a superhighway.

That is entirely likely.

Happy now?

I disagree. I think Buffy telling Angel that he is not only the love of her life but the person she wants to live her life with, closes the cookie metaphor rather soundly. There is no ambiguity with those words. She wants her life to be with Angel.

True, but I think she may still have been under the effect of Twilight (whatever that is). I don't think this is going to be as simple as it seems.

She said that when they both had left Twilight and its influence. It was all Buffy.

Just because she has said it, doesn't mean it will happen. I'm fairly sure something huge will stop them being together but, she made her intentions clear.

I'm fairly sure something huge will stop them being together

Why? I think everyone expects that. It's like M. Night Shyamalan and his 'surprise' endings, everyone knows it coming, so its no surprise. I mean, everyone 'knows' that someone will die (assumed Dawn) its prototypical Joss. No one expects a happy ending, and they keep waiting for the shoe to drop. What if it never does? THAT would be a 'something huge' in my book!
