This book was written by Diana Gallagher and it takes place in season 3 sometime after The Wish. Its not very canon with the characters, there pretty much all written differently, for example Cordy is helping Giles out in the library with computer stuff but this is taking place after Cordy and Xander have broken up, she doesnt get involved with Scoobie stuff in the show until the end of the season. Plus Anya features in this book and in my opinion she is just very out of character. it does referance Buffy episodes though such as Amy being a rat, Anya granting Cordy's wish, the praying mantis teacher and Angel doing that spell to destroy the glove of Myhnegon.
The book is about magic and Willow is tempted to the Dark side because shes tempted with the power to cure Oz of becoming a werewolf, which is never entertained in the show. The evil witch in this book is a very good addition. She has been reincarnated since almost the beginning of time and the glimpse into her past were interesting.
